and im going to admit to a little bit of shamless plugging of this site as I said my goodbyes. was kind of sad as 606 defined my uni life and my studying in the library however all things must end. Despite my not posting there for several months now I must have left an impression somewhere as there were a few people not at all thrilled to see me, some people really just aren't nice people. So to whoever is a 606 evacuee time to reminisce. Good times, bad times, highs and lows? Lets hear it. I, for some reason, will miss the banter as you teetered on a knife edge to what you could say to avoid the comment being removed. Some of the WUM articles put up were brilliant just for their comedic value.
I'm going to miss 606 but once I found this place I realised how crap 606 was. It was sad watching 606 fall apart in its last few weeks but that's what you get when the mods aren't visible and don't interact within the forum to get a feeling of what's what.
I for one will miss Cobwebs, he never failed to create a Hamilton/Whitmarsh/Mclaren conspiracy out of whatever happened good or bad and could rationalise anything negative to do with Hamilton. It was most amusing. I also found the epic Xiglly arguments funny. It was also highly amusing when the extreme Hamilton fans would get wound up by Alonso fans. Despite all the wums and fanboys on 606 you could sometimes get a very good thread going though. The point where I fully switched over from bbc606 to not606 was after the Chinese GP where I went on expecting Hamilton and Mclaren fans to be happy but instead there was a monumental amount of wummey and BS, I think that was when bbc606 really began to break down. However I found not606 and found it to be much better than bbc606, so RIP bbc606.
xiggly could keep some arguements going in style. His argument with Hairy Risky Investment about the status of Alain Prost, im just checking here, went from 15th feb to 17th April with a monumental 1427 comments. Outstanding stuff
I got into a few interesting.... debates with xiglly. I think he started to ignore me a bit as I would answer him so calmly despite what he said. Thats another thing I'll miss, watching people getting themselves in a mess as they argue against their own points after forgetting what they're arguing about
Many enlightening and humorous discussions are my positive memories but I'm afraid all that is overshadowed by the shocking moderation, which was of unacceptably poor quality and made the whole experience immensely frustrating. Also - all those threads that said the mods had a thankless task; it was thankless because they were f'ing rubbish at it.
Last F1 Comment: Bruce Ron THE BOSS Senna Mika Lewis McLaren 4eva (U14406892) Whitmarsh owed, Lewis, Jenson and McLaren an apology for wrecking their careers and the teams form!
Apparently JA606 just crashed. Bad Timing lmao Maybe they were leaching some code and stuff of the bbc 606
Awww Genji!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Paul's my favourite Scottish F1 driver (and that's not being racialist) and he's Britain's No.2 you know. He certainly knows when to stand up, be counted, and then sit down again." Thats a bit of a soft comment but good advert for not606 in your user name. Thats a victory for us and is this you jose FF? Init to win it (U14884772)
Someone who has an account there, is it worth posting a thread as close to midday (when i think it closes) telling everyone that the entire forum have decided to join not606 together? If we get it close enough to midday, nobody will have the time to reply, and anyone who checks the archived threads in the future will think everyone came here? Edit: Damn, didn't realise it had actually close before I said that.
It was quite weird. Like you said, Bando, a bit of a daft nothing comment. I wasn't expecting it to close at that moment and when I refreshed the site I saw that banner. I wish I'd known the moment was coming. I'd've tried to post something a bit more appropriate, although I wasn't hanging around trying to get that final post. I just wanted to make sure the bastard was dead.
