Aye. We can have a foot in the North and nothing on TV. As soon as there is a dusting inside the M25 shops sell out of everything as folk stock up for the 3 hour thaw.
Best one today - some of the train companies cancelled services in case it snowed, not because it did. Think South Eastern cancelled approx. 100 services over the day Unbelievable
Took the dog out this morning and ended up in a blizzard, stayed in the shelter of a high hedge until it blew through, took about 10 minutes.
Took me 2.5 hours to do a 40 min trip this morning into work because of all the snowflakes driving on the road.
We've actually got snow in central London now - had about 2 inches in the last half hour Took me 1 hour 45 mins to do a 40 min train journey into work this morning - god knows how long it'll take tonight
Yeah - actually looks like proper snow here now - my office is down by Monument tube station if you know that part
This fecking country. A bit of snow and the apocalypse is upon us. I've had employees crying off today coming from various places. I reminded them I come from Northumberland to get here and its ten times worse there. I accept if you are coming from somewhere like Consett or Allendale its tricky. However we've had people working afar afield as Carlisle today, and they didn't moan one bit. Its not surprising though. The efforts by our councils and this country in general at keeping open transport links is pathetic. If this is the extent of our planning then we want shot with ****. 4 people have died in road accidents. You can say we should just shut down and stay off the road. Realistically though the roads should not be in this condition. Other countries do deal with it. Of course they have to because its a regular thing for them but I still think its poor. I have to say whereas Northumberland have had it far worse in terms of snowfall etc, I think Newcastle City Council have done a fairly decent job with their roads in comparison. My car is a disgrace in the snow mind. I had to turn round at 6am this morning, head home and take the missus's car off her. She was delighted. Especially when I said "shut up man there's a sledge in the garage". Reality is the littleuns school is off and them bastards will indeed be sledging. Maybe that is what is really grating on me today
What, they took your sledge off you? ****ing kids have nee boundaries these days like ! If your kids are owt like mine it'll come back in ****ing pieces so you've a right to be pissed I'd say On the plus side, i've got to use this mad snow shovel I got from Ikea about 6 or 7 years ago which i completely forgot I'd bought (before i moved to/back from Oz). It's the badgers nadgers like....lovely soft spongy handle and everything
I've took the day off tomorrow. **** it I've arranged to borrow a fibreglass sledge off my mate and I'm going to have a belting day showing my daughter how its done! I told the missus and she said I need to grow up. I've considered what she said and decided I will think it over in the morning. Me tomorrow... please log in to view this image
