Have it on very good authority that there is a buy-back clause in Snoddy's contract. Honestly not bullshitting and, not that it really effects you now, thought you'd be interested.
Think it's him ensuring he gets what he wants whatever happens. He gets his shot at the PL now, but still gets the chance to play in the PL with Leeds United if we get there and still want him.
Interesting, but that would require you to have the money available to buy him back. I was under the impression you guys needed to sell players in order to bring in new faces to plug the gaps in your squad. Given a couple of seasons it could be inconvenient for us, but I can't imagine it bothering us right now.
Obviously, but talk abounds that Ken could be on his way out of the building extremely imminently. Also of course we'd have to get to the PL before you have any reason to worry. But it's a surprisingly good thing for us, something we're not used to in outgoing transfer deals!
I don't really see this as news to be honest, and definitely not worth starting a whole new thread over. I'm sure there are buy-back clauses all the time in football, and the only reason this clause - if indeed there is one - would kick in, is if we had a bad season, and to be honest the last thing we'd be worrying about is losing Snodgrass to Leeds, especially when it appears Leeds won't be getting back into the Premier League anytime soon. They sell Snodgrass for a reported £3m and replace him with Diouf on non-contract terms. Nothing else needs to be said!
I think you could have as good a season as you like and it wouldn't matter if we got promotion and were willing to pay the fee. Of course, as I've said, we need to get promotion first, and that's hardly a simple step.
I'd be happy with 17th this season, as the money that would come from three consecutive seasons in the Premier League would set us up for a long long time. After that, we can start thinking about winning cup competitions and qualifying for Europe.
Of course, that's the sort of things Leeds fans would be demanding straight away upon promotion. (unrealistic I know, but that's our fanbase for you)
Know nothing about the fee or who's decision it was. I have no reason to bullshit and it's not something I do. The source for this is the chairman of LUST, who have strong contacts with the players, so much so the players released a joint statement through them (and there were very strong suggestions that Snoddy played a prominent part in that). You can choose not to believe it if you like, but I trust this person and thought I'd pass the information on.
I think Snodgrass likes Leeds, he just doesn't like the way the club is run, I honestly think he'd have stayed if they'd shown ambition. I think most Leeds fans sympathise with how Snodgrass feels about the development of the club.
Thanks for letting us know Simon, but at the end of the day there's naff all we can do about it except wait and see! Good luck with EHD by the way, horrible, horrible man!
Exactly. Really don't blame Snoddy for his decision and I'd be absolutely delighted to have him back. Under Bates we're not the right club for any ambitious young player.
Thanks. Personally I'm hoping he'll just go away if we stop paying attention to him. Probably, but you paid well under the odds.
Who is to say he won't fall in love with Norwich more than he did with Leeds? It's not as if he's a Yorkshire lad or anything and wasn't he only with you for 3/4 seasons? Sounds like clutching at straws if you ask me, bless you
Yep, 4 seasons, but that's still the majority of his career. I don't know how I'm supposedly "clutching at straws". Someone who can be trusted and is in contact with the players has said there is a buy-back clause in his contract, that's it. I don't claim to know any of the details about what the clause is or who's decision it was to put it in there, just thought I'd pass on what I knew.
