After what happened with Max Gradel last year i think we need to give Snodgrass a deadline. I don't want to see him leave, but if its going to happen it needs to be done before the season starts. So if he has not signed a new contract by July 1st the club should transfer list him and move on. Any thought?
As much as I want him to stay I think the same thing, it'd be disruptive to the team if they weren't sure if their captain would be there past the first game of the season.
No need for him to rush a decision yet, he obviously feels the club lied to him with their ambition for last season, my guess is that he is waiting to see who we sign. If Warnock manages to bring in a few quality signings Snodgrass will sign and hold NW to his promise of allow him to leave if we don't manage it next season. If we do not see the likes of Pearce join and we start to hear excuses of wages and the usual crap from Bates and all we see are 2-3 freebies and a loan walk through the Elland Road doors then Snodgrass will be off well before the season starts...
Our first few signings will be early in the transfer window by all indications, so Snoddy should definitely have made his decision by July time, if not earlier. So really, there's no sign that we'll end up with a deadline day panic-buy situation becuase we thought he'd sign and he ditched us. Slapping an ultimatum on his arse is the last thing we need. Be typical Bates behaviour, mind. Ambition is what will win him over, not hard-ball tactics.
It is not the club's choice. If Snoddy chooses not to renew and to wind down his contract, that is his choice. No-one has the right to pressure him
I think the next month will help Snoddy make his mind up. Pearce would appear to be a done deal. Comments o here suggest he is better than what we have. By the end of the week, we'll know who's going & who's staying. By the end of May, we should have further info on who else is coming. All of this should help Snoddy make his mind up. Me, I think he'll sign an extension with a clause to review the situation in the January window.
The club have the right to pressure him, they pay his wages. Whether it be a good tactical decision or not is another thing. Personally I think he'll sign an extension but then again I said the same about Howson
He's already slapped the ultimatum on it, a matter of hours after Warnock came out with the positive "we've offered him a really good deal to make him the best paid player at the club", bates puts a negative spin on it with "and that's our final offer". he might as well have said "that's all you're getting so sign or **** off".
Nick Powell - Crewe Graham Carey - St Mirren Daniel Kearns - Peterborough Conor Henderson - Arsenal Should I go on..... Now don't get me wrong, I know Snoddy is proven and these lads are just potential talents. However if he goes then we will move on and find the next gem.
Rubbish. He signed a contract the club offered a few years ago and he still has a year to run. The club have the right to offer him a new contract or not, and at a level they believe is good, but no-one has the right to pressure him. I don't think you understand rights vs desires. And if Snoddy does not accept the offer, and the club put him on the transfer list, Snoddy has the right to turn down EVERY OPPORTUNITY and sit out his contract. Get it?
Apparently Snoddy was talking about how WE (ie including himself) have a great chance next season if the summer activities in the transfer market go well
