To go on and achieve what he did after his injury playing for us was amazing. Comes across in that message as someone who appreciates what a great life it is to be a professional footballer instead of moaning about the pressures. Wish we could have a player like him now.
If he had stayed fit in that 2nd season in the prem under Bruce, instead of being injured after 30 mins in the opening day QPR match, the consensus of opinion was that City might have stayed up that season. But of course the curse happened and he didn't play again that season...and the inevitable happened.
We talk about recent injuries but that season was just brutal on us. The previous year we'd been functional but lacked a bit of attacking quality, apart from Long and Jelavic who joined midway through. Bruce went and signed 5 or 6 attacking players which on paper looked really good and early on everyone thought we'd "won the transfer window" and would be a solid mid table side. But most of those attacking players got injured and barely played, Jelavic had injury trouble all season too, and Hernandez turned out to be unable to lead the line effectively on his own. At times we looked miles better than the sides at the bottom, but those injuries absolutely killed us and we ended up going down.
Good analysis. Also some iffy reffing. eg. The first home game vs Stoke....Chester got sent off after about 10 mins..We scored then held on and looked okay for long periods, then that **** Jon Moss decided to give Stoke a throw in when it clearly came off a Stoke player, even their players were funnelling back to defend our throw in. But that idiot Moss and the lino didn't have a clue that it came off a Stoke player..Of course, they score from the throw in and two points were lost...Moss had to be one of the worst ever refs. How he got premier league games still mystifies me today.
I Always liked watching Snodgrass play.Good player and gave as good as he got. Duke St lad, tough area, tough kid.Worked with a couple of his mates a few years back in Barrs Factory,Cumbernauld(Irn Bru).By all accounts he never forgot where he came from and his mates he'd grew up with... Bit of a cloud over him being released by Naismith at Hearts before his contract was up?
