...could be back on in January.

From what I'm hearing Sneijder has told friends and family members that his failed move to Manchester United could still happen in January. I think Captain_Positivity should consider un-filtering those who he wrongly filtered in the first place.

I personally believe the reason we pulled out of negotiations is formed of a few reasons - the first being Sneijder's personal demands were way beyond fulfillment.

    The Sunday Mirror quote:

If reports are to be believed, I honestly think that we should have put effort in securing the signing of this talented midfielder. At the moment, we're not as bad as a few other teams, but signing Wesley would have raised our strength even more. Hopefully, SAF will sign him in January!

Except he won't be eligible if he plays for Inter in the first half of the season. I doubt we'll get him in Jan - SAF rarely buys players in Jan unless the team is in crisis. The only reason we went in for Vidic and Evra in Jan 06 was that we'd gone out of the CL in the group stage and needed to shake stuff up.

I'm sick of this, So I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Wesley Sneijder will never be a Manchester United player.

The Mirror huh? The same paper that said we would be signing Sneijder "within the next 24 hours". Twice.

Sounds a great idea, sign in December when he will be CL cup tied so we'll offer both him and Inter even less money than he was demanding in the first place.

He's quite the business man if he fancies that.

Personally I really wanted him, but if what we read is corrected then it was just down to his stuiped over the top wage and package demards etc.

His a class plaer but he must have just though we would bend over backwards to his every demand "WTF", lets be honest here he regreat not coming to us, not us to him (fact). Wining things at Inter, yeah haha good luck with that.... Cant beleive he had the options to join our great club and he just p*ssed it away by being silly, would hae suited us and dropped into the team nicly but no one player is bigger an our great club so sod Sneijder then, his lose at the end of the day.

This story is never going to fade away, even if he signs for someone else, he will still be rumoured to be joining Utd.

Agree. I read that the reason he didn't come was because he was happy in Milan. He didn't have a reason to leave, likes the city, likes the club, and his family was happy there. Think he would have left if Milan would have sold him, but he wasn't going to force his way out.

Agreed. If was purely for footballing reasons, or Milan wanted rid, then he may have already signed for us. But as it is he not coming any time soon.

He is available as inter try to slash their wage bill. In fact, all italian clubs are trying to cut their wages (been going on for a few years now) in order to comply with the new FFP rules. And because owners in italy have had enough of bankrupting themselves.

I think it is completely clear to see, that by following him on twitter he was waiting for united to come in and sign him, however I honestly think fergie thought against signing him for them wages at his age, which lets face it, he iss a great player but he is not worth a reported 250k a week.

I think it is too late in his career, as he would make us better for a year or 2 at most. We should wait and sign someone with a future. We dont need anyone, we can win the legeu regardless

Yes I'm fully aware of his past glory and records, but lets face it Inter are a millioooooooooon miles away from every wining any type of treble again. They will be in there or abouts for the title in there home-land but not in the CL in my eyes now they have abit of an easy group with CSKA, Trabzzonspon (who?), and Lille! Now Lille will be there toughest games in the group. But I dont think they have any real depth or strenght for the coming games after etc.

The point I was making that idont care how good Sneijder is and "yes" I do really rate him and believe he would have just spotted in beauitfully in the team, but no player is bigger an our great club and that includes Rooney as well!

He's only just 27, he'd have made us better for quite a bit longer than that provided he fitted in. I just don't think Fergie wanted him to be the joint highest earner at the club and raise Rooneys wage in the process.

Personally I think the deal going through or not hinged mostly on Milan and if it hasn't been for Eto'o's move then we may well have got him. I think Fergie has probably decided to blood some of the younger players in perhaps sooner than he otherwise would, so we may see the likes of Pogba and Morrison in the League Cup this season and pushing for first team / out on loan next.

The plus side is it gives us a better long term prospect, the downside is it will probably make us weaker for a couple of seasons at least in the Champions League. That's where Sneijder would have really made a difference imo.

Personally I think he would struggle to be as good here as he is in italy, the pace suits his play, as proved in madrid where he looked somewhat out of his depth
