Anyone fill it out ? I have and been rather anti designated area i`m afraid, tired of them smoking outside of the smoking area, and a small number of them have been abusive to stewerds when asked to move, sorry to any rule abiding smokers !

I'd like to see our team 'smoking' from the kick-off but I won't hold my breath!...

I probably have 20-40 cigs a year so not really a smoker at all- a social smoker if you like- but often find myself wanting one at football to cope with the stress of it.

As a young guy I don't mind a smokey toilet but appreciate parents and others will hate it. What is the benefit of scrapping a designated area? All it does is make people smoke illegally- they will not stop smoking on the whole as away games show- so I see no benefit whatsoever of having a smoke-free stadium.

Yes filled it in & I'm a smoker & would see them keep the designated area's, no harm in it & anything like the Wigan game I needed one.

I was a pack a day smoker up until a year and a half ago. I stopped cold turkey and have never had one since, not even a puff. zip.
The last thing I'm going to do is be hypocritical about bagging smokers.
The only thing I don't like is when someone refuses to think of others, as listed below.

I had a guy who smokes, get into my ute ( two door vehicle only ) and he reeked of smoke, so I ask him not to suck the living daylights out of his cigarette and then hop straight into my car.
I said, think about how you stinking like sh it affects me and is that fair?
He giggled and proceed to do the same thing the next day when I picked him up for work.
I never picked him up again so he drives his own car to the job.
Sometimes the penny just doesn't drop.
Apart from that, people smoking in general doesn't affect me.

I was at wembley and although a strict no smoking zone everywhere, when I went to the toilets was a free for all smoking zone! I'm all for a designated area myself..

Trouble is ex-smokers are far more reactive to smells of other smokers or rooms that have been smoked in. Well done on quitting just like that Aussie...

If they're going to have designated areas then the stewards need to be able to enforce them. In the crush of the Ellerslie its pretty much a free for all and the stewards either can't get to the abusers or won't tackle them. So sadly I think an outright ban is the obvious next step. At least that way there can be no doubt in anyone's mind about the dos and don'ts of the situation. Let's face it - you never see anyone smoking in the seats these days where it has been banned completely.

While we're on the topic of prohibitions can someone please start a campaign to get beer drinking allowed in the seats again. I know this is a legal rather than club thing but with the hooligan problem under control this is long overdue for a review.

Appreciate the sentiment but that just means a few thousand cramming into toilets for a *** which no steward will be able to stop.

I really see it as another way of driving out the average bloke for a more family/tourist-friendly support less problematic when the team performs as badly as it mostly has in recent years.

Sorry smokers, but why anybody would choose freely to smoke in this day and age when the health risks are so apparent, the cost of tobacco is ever rising, it is increasingly more anti-social and, frankly, it makes you stink, is completely beyond me.

The current holder of the title Mrs Uber resumed smoking a few years ago and I really hate it, particularly as it's kept from the children who will be upset if they knew. We both quit together 17 years ago to start a family, so she's a complete idiot for taking it up again. When she gets ill from it she will be blaming me for not making her stop years ago, whilst our children will blame me for being complicit in her deceit.

There is nothing anybody can do to make somebody quit smoking - they themselves have to value quitting higher than continuing. Instead you hear bollocks like "I can quit at any time, you know, but I'm just not ready yet".

Give 'em their own dedicated smoking area and let 'em get on with it, I say.

Good post Uber, as mention in my previous post, I quit a year and a half ago but I neglected to mention that my good wife quit at the same time, which made life so much easier in stopping.

When people ask me was it tough to stop smoking, I say this .......... It is like asking you to stop eating, after awhile, you really want to eat, so around the 2-3 week mark, it was so hard but once you get past that time frame, it gets easier ( well, it did for me)

I stopped because I was starting to cough in the mornings and I was sitting in my car, waiting to go into a clients house ( wasn't quite 7am ) and I could hear a lady in a block of units across the road, for want of a better expression, coughing her guts up and I said to myself, that's it.

I still miss it when I'm having a drink and I'm sure I'll feel the same way till I die but I do not feel like I have to have one. I actually fill so much better without them, I can breathe so much easier and I haven't coughed since about a month after I stopped. The first month or two, you want to eat like a horse but then you settle down.

If something in my life was to turn sour, I'm 100% sure I would not revert to smoking again, I guess I'm too proud of having stopped and the truth is, I'm very comfortable with how I am.

I will say this though, smoking IS legal so the governments SHOULD provide areas for people to smoke. They can't have it both ways. They want the taxes!
    Thanks for the support, Sooperhoop.

Equally good post, Aussie. I recall you also had something of a health scare a little while back, so would imagine that that would help strengthen the resolve.

    All the best.

I don't smoke cigarettes but my other half, she told me I was on fire last night.

Now if that has not killed this thread then what will?

Well done. I can disappoint a girl twice in that time including 45 seconds of crying.
