Smoke bombs: club & fans make appeal.

To the clever lads with their Pyro fixation, here's one reaction to the device let off at Villa last month, from seven year old NUFC season ticket holder Ellis Curry:
    ___________________

"It was like a bomb had exploded under my seat – it hurt my ears and green stuff covered my programme.

"I started crying and my dad was looking round. A man pulled me over the seat and a steward ran to where I was sitting. I was really scared and afraid. I was shocked and my dad was angry.”

    His mum Carolyn commented:

"I’m always concerned about his going to games but I know he’s safe because he’s with his dad. But there’s a minority of fans who ruin it for the majority.

"How would they feel if it was their sibling – their younger brother or sister? He was terrified.”
Not big, not clever, just brainless, dangerous and illegal.

And in addition to the safety issue affecting innocent match-goers, there's a very real threat that stadium safety committees responsible for opposing clubs take heed of the ongoing problems with travelling Newcastle fans - and slash our allocation on security grounds.

NUFC Head of Security Steve Storey:

"Igniting flares is a criminal offence - these people are choosing to conceal these devices and we want people to give them up so they can face punishment from the courts and the club.”

PS: It's highly appropriate that this latest plea comes before Newcastle visit Cardiff - where the consequences of discharging such devices is a matter of public record:

Would anybody feel bad about shopping the idiots that do this kind of thing?

I certainly wouldn't and I'd expect them to get a life ban from all grounds.

I wouldn't mind them getting a life ban from their bodies; but then this extreme attitude of mine may be because I saw a Daily Mail today.

Anyway, I have no time of idiots who throw flares or even set them off in confined areas. If football fans ever want to get standing stadia then, quite simply, they are going to have to learn to bloody well behave. It's that simple and these morons are stopping the re-introduction of standing areas.

Once again it asks questions about the stewarding at the grounds if these idiots can get through the turnstiles with explosive devices.

I think the perfect punishment would be to drop them off in the middle of the ocean in a boat (and perhaps accompanied with a Bengal tiger for second offenders) so that they can learn what flares are really meant for.

And of course, they won't be given a flare because they will have already used them.

...don't forget to give them desert wellies and to perform the airdrop on a wet day when the boots have no traction on the pavement so that they can't escape.

If I can get it past security this little beauty should create a stir with the Mackems.

Actually I've just noticed, if you look at the smoke plume closely it looks like a clowns head.
