Three year contract. Undisclosed fee. Well I suppose we couldn't really expect to keep such a quality player. I don't blame him for our demise last season. He always gave a decent performance whenever I saw him play.
Wouldn't be so bothered about this if we would re used the money on another decent player but there's town problems with it. 1. No decent players to match smiths quality will join us 2. Our chairman won't dig deep into his pockets even if a decent player does pop up and is interested.
I know there are issues with the Chairman, but surely he will give the manager the wages freed up / the fee received to replace him?
We were told that when money filtered through from the sale of Lambert from Southampton to Liverpool it would not be 'ring-fenced'; so no cause to think that this will be any different!
