    Pardew didn't smile?

Quite happy to see him go, he did us well in Championship season but not Prem quality anymore I don't think. Be good to get his wage bill off the books.

He still thinks he can cut it in Prem???.
Used to like him but he's nothing but a mercenary.

I really want Smith to go but I'd have to question Pardew's handling of the situation. Why doesn't he just front up and tell him he needs him off the wage bill? Saying stuff like "I think you know why...." is just dragging the issue out. I thought the problem was Smith wants to stay and collect his money. Come on Pards, tell him to sling his hook, we never use him anyway and it will free up a bit of wages. Maybe he is looking at Cheik's absence, Guthries injury record and thinking young Abeid is not ready. I'd play him ahead of Perch I suppose.

Love Pardews response to why Smith isn't playing. The team is doing well so it is hard for anybody not already in the team to get a game unless there are injuries etc but Smith must know hes past his best and very unlikely to get game time. For someone who wants to play until Ryan Gigg's age he must know that despite picking up a big pay packet from Newcastle, its not doing his long term future in Football any good because hes not even making the bench for us. Move and save your career, go to a championship team who are likely to get promoted and play in the premiership with them next year!

I say let him play as a striker against Blackburn in the cup. Smith and Best up front, with Ben Arfa in the middle.

Ha no bother, seems you portrayed a different angle to it anyway with the Giggs comparison

Yea i used to love him, modelled my playing style on him. I know its not his fault he is passed his best and dont really blame him for picking up a huge pay packet every week for nothing but if he wants to continue playing after his Newcastle contract is up he needs to show some more desire to actually play.

Maybe he is just comeing out and saying this now because he knows his contract is almost up and is basically just telling other teams he does still want to be a footballer??

Smith..." Come on Pards, why do you keep playing me in the reserves?"

Pardew..." Because you're too old for the under 18's "

SAF turned Smith, who was a decent attacking player into a defensive player and he's been **** ever since. If we let him have a go up front, we can see what he can do!

Smith it's called a euphemism you muppet. Pardew was too polite to say you are too **** to play.

No manager should be too polite to tell an employee they dont have a future.
