Now back to winning ways after Tuesdayâs fine result at the English Riviera the Chairboys take on the âCod Armyâ at Adams Park. After flying out of the blocks at the start of the season the Arsenal impersonators (kit and ground) have been finding things in league 2 much more difficult having won on only five occasions since we beat them back in October and two of those wins were against Poxford. The Chairboys have been hit with injuries to Joel and Bruno but Gaz has been quick to recall Junior from his successful loan spell with Hendon and I expect him to start on the right with Josh back in midfield as the only changes from last Saturdayâs line up I will be in full voice at Adams Park for this one cheering on a Chairboys win http://www.wycombe.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=310877
I'm well happy with that result that leaves us 12 points above the relegation places so with 11 games to play we look to be safe.
what a result!! the performance for much of the game was dire but we were the better side and a late goal is always good to see
Not a great performance today by any means but a great result. Late winners are always very satisfying. Anthony Stewart was a well deserved MOM. Usually Jon Parkin causes us all sorts of problems but today Stewart marked him out of the game for the vast majority of it. The first time Parkin got the wrong side of him was in injury time and Archer was a match for the header. I was surrounded by a bunch of miserable b*stards today whinging from minute one that we were playing poorly. It wasn't great I will agree but it was 0-0 and we never looked in danger of conceding against a team that was a position below the play offs! Finally lost my patience after an hour and had to tell them to stop bloody moaning!! I think we have got to appreciate that in September we were bottom, we have serious financial difficulties and yet now we find ourselves in mid table. Not only that we started again with 6 players 21 years old and under and 3 more came off the bench. I will certainly take a few more scrappy 1-0 wins!
More than happy with the result not much of a game they came for a point and never caused too many problems always thought there was going no more than 1 goal and always thought we were going to get it Anthony Stewart and Big Dave kept the beast quiet and we should have had a pen when he floored Big Dave, Josh and Stewie Lewis never stoped running and Woody always looked our most dangerous player Junior livened things up when he came on for Matt Mc the goa lwas scrappy but they all count points the six point from the last two games has put us well away from danger with 11 to go happy days
agree guy, completely forgot about the blatant penalty shout! strange refereeing today - strict and largely correct but failed to give a few blatant fouls.. still though, gave us all a good laugh when scowen smashed the ball in his face!
Was not expecting this. Been out playing myself so wasn't following it, and great to have my chips and see a last minute winner. As mentioned above the amount of young players makes it all the better (and I think shows good management to keep youngsters motivated after a run of losses (tip to the hat GA)). I hope we can see these players progressing with Wycombe. Happy with mid-table, but now looking up. Any player ratings?
i will attempt archer 7 - some very good saves but in general very little to do dunne 6 - strong performance in defence, could have offered a bit more going forward winfield 7 - very good captains performance, him and stewart had thier big striker in their back pocket all game stewart 8 - same as winfield, but with a goal to add. my MOTM harriman 6 - barely noticed him, but barely noticed their winger either so a good performance ainsworth 7 - lots of workrate, really got stuck in and was unlucky with the injury scowen 6 - typical scowen performance, ruined by a harsh yellow card. good to have him back on set pieces instead of the useless spring. good shot at the ref too lewis 6 - much the same as scowen wood 7 - full of work rate but the end product just wasent there today morgan 7 - not bad from deano, attitude a frustatration again but generally played well given he was up against 2 good centre backs and had very little support mcclure 5 - possibly his worst game in a wycombe shirt, nothing was working for him and rightfully subsituted subs andrade 6 - flickered in and out of the game, lots of tricks but poor crossing morias 8 - injected some much needed pace and energy just as the game was falling flat again. really unlucky not to score whoever came on for morgan in the last minute - N/A
First half was very quiet - the only highlight being the ref taking one in the face. Not too much happened after the break either. However Wycombe deserved the victory because they actually tried to win. Fleetwood, surprisingly, showed very little adventure and seemed happy with a point. Parkin looked twice the player he was in his Maccelsfield days - thankfully only half as good though.
