Deane Smalley will miss the rest of the season with cruciate ligament and cartilage damage to his right knee.

Smalley has never quite made a starting spot for Argyle his own since arriving from Oxford.....even so a great disappointment for him and for John Sheridan....who needs more options up front.

This could make a striker option a priority come January.....possibly already a worrying position at present to be honest.....we need a stronger goal threat to help take the pressure off of Reuben Reid.

Great, just the sort of news we need isn't it. I don't particularly rate Smalley and have said so a few times now. However, he is one of a small band of cover we have up front and if the wheels come off Reid or Alessandra then our options are very thin indeed. The only other option would be to put Banton up front as a striker rather than in behind. Sorry but he doesn't inspire much in the way of confidence either. I have yet to see him do anything worth a shout this season and if honest I'm not sure where his head is. Would he start to score like he did previously? Don't reckon he would personally. We need a better option than that but not sure where we would get it. Right now we don't need anymore wobbles given we have not won the last 3. Have to get back on the horse right away and start another run to keep in touch.

Over the course of this evening I have been catching up with other opinion on Argyle things having been away yesterday and devoid of a computer to look at. I am slightly surprised and disgusted to say the least with some comments regarding Smalley on pasoti. I don't rate Smalley as a player and think he has done little or nothing to change my opinion. However, to show any sort of gladness that he is out for so long with this horrible injury is low in the extreme. I am surprised that people on there can even think that way. I might expect some on certain sites to express that sort of view but not on that one. Get a grip people.
