just found an old bog roll,[ unused and in old camping gear … about 10 years old, an ANDREX ] and 2 sheets length wise equal 3 on the most common ones we now see/ buy super market or " pound shop type outlet" BM / HB/PJ/PS etc etc

After he retired I believe Francis Lee came up with a whiz idea .. bought tissue from same source as major brand/s and called it GLEN?... but was able to sell cheaper because he trimmed something like 15% off the width. which in all fairness didn't seem to make much difference.
all or most bog rolls were 240 sheets! for years Tesco did a double roll 480 sheets and was VFM!

PEAS... why peas you may well ask what has that to do with bog rolls? Well if you save the middles and each spring fill with compost place 2 peas in them and cultivate it is an easy way to plant them out without disturbing, for an early crop.. maybe 40 x 2 = 80 plants then plant rest of seeds a week or so later to get a later crop!... anyway the centres give away a lot of secrets .. peeps prefer soft as opposed to thin or IZAL! so to make their product seem like VFM, pack size is similar advertising blurb says 240, or even a few sheets more, they have a centre which is over 1/2" wider diameter = roll looks same size as your major brands and state 240 sheets [ or more] per roll but as they are shorter sheets [ 3 = 2 ]....…………… and likely 1/2-3/4" narrower … leave the rest up to your imagination the probs this may cause!
    small hands? ………..…….
