All of us on here love Sunderland, and though we may like to make the claim âI was born supporting Sunderlandâ there is in almost every one of our cases and Granda, Dad, older Brother, Uncle or even just a friend who gave us the bug by taking us to our first match, letting us stay up to watch MOTD and sneaking us into pubs to watch away games. For me I have 2 people who gave me Sunderland AFC firstly my Dad, what can I say about the bloke except when my Mam passed on and he was left with a 11, 9 and 6 year old to look after and bring up he didnât for one second contemplate doing anything but his outright best for us, he took me to my first match we beat Portsmouth 3-1 or 2 at Roker Park and I was hooked and we have only missed a handful of home games since, thank you Dad. The other man responsible for my love of Sunderland is my Granda with his encyclopaedic knowledge of the English game not just Sunderland and his way of telling old football stories he totally captivated me as a younster, he was there when Clough was injured, he saw Shack and Charlie Hurly play, he saw Vic Halomâs screamer against City, Montyâs save in the final, The Little General lift the cup and Stokoeâs famous run onto the pitch. However he is very ill now and it hurts me so much to know that he wonât be here forever, but through his memories and stories that he has shared with me and the undying love for SAFC that he implanted into my heart in know whatever happens heâll be with me always one way or another Thanks Granda Ron
