Things went a little slow yesterday, Mick who runs the site posted this on the moderator board

He hopes this will help but he basically runs the site on his own and has a full time job.

Just to keep you informed <ok>

That's not cheap, how does he pay for it all? Even the forum software used here costs money! The best way to run a site is to have the web server and a database server, spreads the load nicely. It gets complicated and expensive when it's get bigger and you have to start doing load balancing and have multiple web and database servers.

Not that I know how to do all that.

Keep up the good work Mick!

He gets a small amount of money from advertising to non-members (members don't see the advertising) but most comes out of his own pocket.

The good news is the amount of traffic that built up yesterday should be good for the advertisers to see. This will demonstrate that Not606 is the forum that fans turn to when they want information about clubs and player activities.

Mick should consider having an advert which loads on the page which member see merely because it can be at a premium rate to help him with the finances of the site. I for one wouldn't be against an advert if it helps to keep the site running (new servers don't come cheap)

I'm surprised by the lack of advertising to members, I'd understand it if I paid a fee. He must need funds to run, unless he earn loads of money ;-)

The really good thing from my point of view was that we weren't kept in the dark about what was going on, we knew what was happening and what was being done about it, not like the old 606 which used to go down for hours without any explanation.

Mick is doing an extraordinary job.
