I'm reading that it's Rooney's fault that Kane played so poorly now. Rooney wasn't there to 'support' Kane in the forward role so Kane was isolated and never made an impact. What's the excuse for him losing the ball EVERY TIME he touched it?
Modern journalism feeding modern society, there's got to be an unrealistic expectation followed by failure and someone to blame. There can't just be a realistic assessment followed by a fair reflection and credit/ critic where it's due. The most incredulous journalism regarding the England team in my lifetime was back in April when a variety of papers were saying that because we had lower expectations of the England team it might help us win the competition - they write ****, they come across as having no more knowledge of the game than the average fan and most of the time I end up having to correct their horrendous grammar in my head whilst reading. If the England team is poor it is a highlight compared to the reporting upon them.
