Newcastle, promoted from the Championship last season, have earned plaudits for their team spirit this term after adapting well to life back in the top-flight.

But Pardew believes there is more to his squad than strength of character, adding: "I think we have a little bit more than just spirit.

"We've got quality. You can't get a result at Chelsea without very, very good players."

Looks like £35M is out of the question . . . . . . sounds like another Summer Screwjob from Ashley

Pardew needs to be careful because at the end of the day he's promised us these funds will go into the club time and time again.
He doesn't want to lose the fans and we could do without another saga.

Pardew talks too much, too often.

 

As I said all along... we wont get much of the 35 million and if we do it will be money from players we sell.

I think everyone gets a bit too excited on here at times, at the end of the day, Ive said it before and will say it again ITS MIKE ASHLEY!

The fact Pardew thinks Ashley needs a reason to invest when he's already "promised" the money from the AC sale?

How is that concerning? Ashley would be more apprehensive of investing a considerable sum if he thinks it would be wasted. Seeing us perform like that against the top teams just fortifies the belief that all of the invested cash will build upon strong foundations.

Nothing wrong with keeping the owner happy.

I see where your coming from but you need to know what he was asked really;

"Mike Ashley was in the crowd today, how do you think he would have felt about that performance?"

Im guessing what he was asked was something like that and when you look at his answer its fair enough.

I doubt we'l spend 35million in the summer and it will upset a few fans but from the noise Pardew's been making I assume we'l be getting ATLEAST 3 coming in.

 

The way I look upon it is that we're spending money on the training ground, we're spending money on contracts and we're spending money on scouting for players.

So why would we be scouting, if we had no intention of buying?

 

I'll say we'll get about £15million to spend, up to £20million if we sell Jose.

 

Perhaps we're scouting for Liverpool? It would explain a few things...

 

I think your reading into what he is saying to much, only time will tell, until then theres no point worrying about it...

Also I maybe giving Pardew to much credit but this Mike Ashley wont give him all the money maybe a secert weapon for Pardew..... It means he isnt walking about saying we have 35mil, so clubs are less likely to over inflat prices

So this maybe smart media skills from Pardew just trying to play everthing down....

It is what fergy does very well, and citeh very badly!

I think Pardew is intentionally trying to keep the pressure on Ashley to stump up the money, that and the media are obsessed with discussing it, so he has to say something on the matter (no comment sounds bad for the club).

I don't mind if he keeps the money from selling Enrique if he does go, but the Carroll money NEEDS to be spent on players!
