He's either having a bloody laugh at the media's expense or this must be the understatement of the century!!! "With Slade told to cut costs by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan and Jones reportedly one of the highest paid players at the club, Slade admitted his hand might be forced if there was interest shown in the striker. The Cardiff boss added: “It’s a crystal ball situation right now, if someone comes in and offers £5m for him I’m not sure we would turn it down."
Plus we are considering re signing that fantastic striker Andy Keogh again, wtf and or Carlton Cole, Cole would just be a like for like for Jones, i think i would prefer Jones, however paper talk is just that. An MLS out fit are in for Kenwyn apparantly.
Apparertly on WOL Slade is claiming that if somebody bid £5 mill for Kenwyn we'd have to take it. No **** How does Slade think KWJ is worth £5 million?
£5m is absolutely ridiculous but there's no doubt KWJ has a value. He might be a lazy ****er but he always scores goals and that will always cost money.
Slade quote again - this time on the Whitts situation................. Slade fears that the final decision on the Whittingham situation might not finally rest in his hands anyway. He added: “We just don’t want to be losing our quality players now if we can help it, but if somebody comes in and offers £5m for him then I’m sure that decision will be taken away from me.” After the Jones remark it seems he's got this £5M figure on the brain. Neither Jones nor Whitts would command that figure at this stage of their careers. If anyone was daft enough to offer it, I bet Tan would snap their hands off.
Wolves and Hull are rumoured to be the two teams interested. Hull certainly have the money to pay over the odds. Would mean that Joe Ralls would have to step up... Or maybe we'd be allowed to spend some of that £££ Could have sworn Whitts left for Forest a couple of seasons ago anyway....
I think Joe Ralls is the best central midfielder at the club. I expect him to be in the starting line up v Fulham. However in Slades world that will be left midfield.
For sure Hilts, barring injuries and the correct alignment of the planets it will be Whitts and Gunner/Dikachoi in the centre of midfield against Fulham. I foresee a very slow midfield centre of our team unless Dikachoi gives Whitts the room to play much further up the pitch.
Whits +1 will always fail if the opposition has any legs in the middle of the pitch. I think the £5m reference shows it's a figure Slade is plucking rather than based on anything concrete. I'd be with Tan and be over the moon with a figure anywhere near that for either. We'd have to sign someone with real creativity if Whits was sold, despite all his issues he creates most of our goals and that would have to be replaced in some fashion.
Were Whitts to leave DikgacoI and Ralls would have improve in ball retention unless we made a good signing to replace Whitts. However Sheepy is right that a new cm would allow Whitts more license further forward where historically he has been more effective.
And there begins the argument/question that has remained unanswered on this board for 3 years +. Where do you play him? I can only see him in a free role in front of 2 cm's as Sheep mentions. That only leaves room for 1 upfront though........ In a 4-4-2 I can only see him left midfield with a pacey attacking left back and I don't think that's ideal even though we have a few contenders for the LB slot.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...rdiff-city-midfielder-matthew-kennedy-9718410 I suppose this fits into the Slade world title. Anyone surprised about last seasons 'revelations'?
Were stuck with him at least for the short term. To be fair, from what I've heard and read there are snippets for optimism. It's always hard coming in part way through a season (though some managers seem very good at it) especially when you've got a mess like OGS left and are tasked with cutting costs. No excuses for Slade now, he's had a full pre-season and he'll live and die by the points on the board. Was dead against him last year but willing to cut him some slack for the first 10 games.
Fair comment, hope he does the business for you, would be good to see you boys at the top end of the table this season, you've been on a hidding to nothing for long enough now, so all the very best for this season, tell Old Sparkey to hang on in there..............
