Can't quite understand that - all a bit underwhelming on the face of it given the investment made in the club.

There's only two points between Norwich in 1st and Wolves in 8th at the moment. If we can overtake two of them, why not another 4?

If we only identify the playoffs as being a reasonable target, isn't that a bit defeatist - or maybe a clever bit of bet-hedging from a very astute manager?

I suppose he could have gone all the way and say his target was saving us from relegation?

I'd snap your hand off now for a top six finish.

Agree that with the squad/investment we've got, we should aim for automatic. However current form/fitness/confidence etc. suggests it will be quite a while before we turn the corner. How far behind are we gonna be when we eventually start playing to our potential? Thats' why I think he's added a measure of caution to his statement.

I'd be happy to stay in the league at the moment. Our current form suggests we aren't good enough for a top 6 finish <--- imo

Look guys, I take your points, but let's sit back and take a look at this.

There are 13 Championship games to play before Christmas and the January transfer window. If Slade has an immediate impact on the squad (big ask I know) we could easily be top 6 by then. If we are, I'd expect Slade to ship out those players he figures are not going to contribute for the second half of the season, and Tan to fund those that Slade identifies to fill any gaps he sees in his second half push.

The next couple of home games against Forest and Ipswich will be crucial as to which way we go - 4 or even all 6 points will be a massive boost.

It's been said and proved enough times that anyone can beat anyone in this division, but I look at those 13 fixtures we have left until the New Year and see teams like Millwall, Leeds, Bolton, Birmingham, Rotherham, Brenford and Charlton amongst them. If Slade can't get us together to pick up 15 points from the 21 that those seven games represent, he was the wrong choice to turn this around.

If he does it, we could well be pushing for autos come May despite this s**t start under Ole.

The **** start has affected confidence and has become a serious issue within the squad. I hope the belief and desire is brought back to the boys and can be turned around for a top 6 or automatic push.

I personally just cant see it, although he has my backing.

I fully expect Cardiff to be automatically promoted with Norwich.

    No excuses acceptable.

Long way to go before that happens. It's going take Slade a couple weeks to get the confidence of the team back up, and the fitness levels also. If we stayed in this division for another season I wouldn't be too disappointed, as long as they start playing some decent football and not like some second rate Sunday football league team.

I don't know whether Slade is the right manager for our club, but I am willing to give a chance, and get behind him 100%

I was wondering if Mr Slade brought his backroom staff with him, especially a fitness coach, anyone know?

Get a feeling that although Slade has said he wants Young to be involved with first team affairs, he won't be his number 2. It may be one of the things he had to accept in taking the job. Young will be an assistant - not THE assistant.

As far as the other appointees are concerned, I'd expect there to be quite a few new faces coming to replace those that went up the road when Ole was shown the door.

Whoever they'll be, they've got a job on.

Rumours abound of ex bluebird, wurzel and jack Kevin Nugent coming as no 2 and Glenn Roeder as Director of football.

Slade couldn'say much else in all fairness. If he came in saying that he was going to take the league by storm and finish top. He would get slaughtered for being to overconfident and if not achieved slaughtered again. He has in all fairness set his sights on what may be achievable. Mind you he is going to have to get you lot going soon if you are to make the play offs.

Le's be honest here, 8 points is nothing really (well it is, it is 8 points but I'm sure you get my drift) but there are 35 games to go with plenty of 6 pointers ahead.

I am now cautiously but relatively optimistic that we will see a much tougher, leaner and fitter and more effective team playing from next Saturday.

The squad is a shambles. I think it would be a major achievement to finish top 6 next season.

We need a huge clear out and that wont be easy.
