Becoming more obvious by the day IMO why Russell Slade was happy to work at Charlton without written guarantees. In the history of English league football, has any professional [sic] club ever sold all 3 of its goalkeepers in the same week, and this near to the start of the season Slade's pre season is meaningless - how are the players supposed to get to know each other and form an understanding? My prediction is that Slade will be gone by October at the latest - to be replaced by either the Serb or Karel Fraeye.
The players that have left the club since our last game of the season: Motta Fanni Suk young Sanogo Dmitrovic Pope Henderson Cousins Gudmunsson Reza Makienok Tucudean Watt Vetokele Sarr Bergdich Not only has Roland received circa 5m in transfer fees, he has reduced the wage bill by at least 80k a week. I have taken into consideration CAFC subsidising wages of players on loan - still a conservative estimate as Henderson + Igor + JBG = 50k Probably closer to 100k and we still have Tex to go who is a high earner. Russell, there is a reason why wilder wanted written assurances.
What sort of conversations are supposed to be taking place between the club's CEO and manager ? Meire: 'We need to cut costs, can I sell one of your keepers?" Slade: "Sell all 3 of them within a week"
I'm beginning to become increasingly worried that Slade is no different to the other mugs, only that he has a British passport. Anybody worth their salt would not have stood for this wholesale clearout, Lookman will go now that he has come back from Germany unscathed, and the portuguese dude will bugger off once we find someone to take him on. I can imagine squirrel face told Slade at the interview what was going to happen he just nodded and smiled. If I am wrong with the above Slade will tell this lot to f*** off in the not too distant future. I swap from being very angry to laughing at the whole damn nonsense, an absolute f****** shambles. Oh yeah, wtf is Ajose!
I read somewhere that Ajose is injured. If he wasn't I'm sure we would have sold him by now. His wages would pay for three fifteen-year-olds.
Charlton 14/1 for relegation. I am going to put £20 on it today before going to the Orient game This summer has been a mirror image of the last two - an already threadbare squad massively depleted in numbers and quality, while a puppet manager sits quietly on the sidelines. The next bit is the influx of freebies and loans before the Bury game. Far from "learning from our mistakes" this is a Regime that is hellbent on repeating them ad nauseum. Amazing that 5,000 were duped into buying STs out of a misguided sense of loyalty and optimism. When will people wake up to the fact that the only reason this arsehole owns Charlton is because of his deluded belief that he can turn a profit from farming players? "Success" on the field is not even a consideration .
They have learnt from their mistakes - hence why they have signed an injury prone player that has only played 70 games in the last four years (only 15 last season most of them at the beginning of the season at Brighton). He was a good player, but has had two major knee injuries in recent years and a broken leg when he was younger. Wouldn't be a bad signing if he was backup, but you just know him and Jackson will start against Bury.
What I don't understand are all the Club apologists like Colin etc. Can they not see what Duchatelet is doing to our Club? We have now sold Pope, Henderson, Cousins, Gudmundsson, Watt out on loan. Basically all of our best players, Lookman is going to be next. We have no senior goalkeeper with two weeks to go before the season starts. We have Baeur, Lennon, Diarra, Ajose, Kashi out injured. We could start our League campaign against Bury with the following team. Phillips Solly, Johnson, Texeira, Fox Harriott, Crofts, Jackson, Holmes Novak, Hanlon
Ignore Colin, he is a WUM, only Reams hasn't cottoned on to it Agree about the threadbare nature of the squad - Stuart Taylor rumoured to be joining next week, not many Clubs have a 38 year old free agent as their No.1 if they have promotion ambitions (lol) Ultimately it is the owner's naked lack of ambition and cynicism that does you in - I find it truly astounding that 5,000 were mugged off by him again this summer. We will be mid table at the very best this season with this rag tag and bobtail outfit.
Rumour on CL that Slade is going to resign - would like to see how the apologists would spin that. Even if it's not true, I can't see him lasting the season. As for Colin - he described losing our best goalkeeper to a team in the division above for free as an excellent bit of business. That says it all really.
Can you imagine if true and Slade resigned before the season started ...would those accepting sapps down the valley still be happy
He may be decent. We had him two years ago. Only saw glimpses and went on loan to Bristol and was very prolific for them.
