Media can be a joke. Charlie Austin is currently the media darling. Yes, his story is a great one and yes, a lot of people are talking this week about him being selected for England. Yes he scored a fantastic goal against us at St Mary's, but that goal was clearly (and said by the media at the time) overshadowed by Pelle's fabulous strike three minutes later. Does Pelle's goal make the top 10? No. Does the current media darlings? Yes. Also, a couple of weeks ago, Raheem (I can slap someone in the face and get away with it) Sterling, scores a header into an empty net from 6 yards after lots of liverpool passes - yes that goal makes the top ten, but not Morgan's strike into the top corner after 40 passes against Newcastle. Rant over!
Have no problem with Austin's goal being in there, but was surprised that Pelle's didn't make it. I also thought Schneiderlin's goal should have been there as an example of a multi-pass goal. I think they were trying to get examples of different types of goal...which makes Pelle's absence even more marked. I think people always treat overhead kicks as spectacular but lucky. All ten goals selected were good goals and it must have been difficult picking them. I don't think there is a bias against us...some teams would say that we have been media darlings lately.
I don't think its a bias as such. I just think, even now, in this kind of debate, people just seem to forget about us.
That's true. Forgive me, I was just being silly. Football's such a young sport as well, only having been invented in 1992.
