Am i the only one who wants to get a rather heavy implement and repeatedly smash it into charlie nicholas' face? 2 weeks ago he and Paul Merson were highly critical of watford saying that Zola was a disappointemnt for not promoting a long term vision for the club and that we were doing a disservice to the area and football in general by bringing in foreing players on loan. Nothing about thwe football we've been playing or the fact taht there are some talented home grown kids coming through ( as always) - just an attack. The way they went on you'd have thought that the responsibility for supplying youth for the national team rested solely at Vicarage road..... Today, Charlie "champion of the Brits" Nicholas commended Guardiola for not coming here because it's not the greatest legaue in the world and then said Southampton had every right to bring in a foreign manager and he was getting sick of everyone saying "it has to be British - we have to have British players and managers " as this attitude could hold the game back. I like Soccer saturday but am getting sick of the sniping -especially when it's from complete and utter hypocrites like Mr Nicolas. At least Merson has the excuse that he struggles to string more than one sentence together. I should be used to it after 36 odd years but the joke is wearing increasingly thin. I know we all get esensitivbe about our clubs but i'm convinced that if you analysed the criticism against praise we'd be very high in the list of those who get more negative than positive coverage. I'll have to be careful - i'm soundluing like a Liverpool fan
Totally agree with you Dan = they almost spoiled the preview of the game at Manchester City due to their uninformed sniping at us. Unfortunately I like the programme so am reluctant to stop watching but some of that panel are stupid beyond words
Bl oo dy rich coming from two arsenal has beens - how many "british" players are there employed by mr (french man) wenger?
Weren't they the first team (along with Portsmouth) to field a whole side of non british players in the prem
How ironic it will be that, in the not too distant future, Nicholas may not be British, but Scottish? I've trawled the Sky Sports website looking for a way of contacting them - email, sms, tweet - but can't find anything. Are they too scared of feedback I ask myself?
An ex Arsenal player complaining about the number of overseas players in a team!? Pot,kettle and black anyone... We've not that many youth players actually come through in recent seasons and the best hope is now often seen in pictures smoking or drinking according to many fans who see such things sadly. Hoban has been one of our best players but I don't think they can say its been a bad thing for us this season anyway.. Long term - well how many clubs look long term when they spend millions on players or sack managers after a few bad results.
