That exciting sounding trip to Middlesborough on Fireworks night have been moved to a 5:20 kick by our friends at Sky.. Even less Orns going then! http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2388401,00.html
That works out very well for me, and will undoubtedly boost local fireworks attendances. But it's a disaster for some of our travelling fans (others will be delighted to have a stronger excuse to stay the night, but I suspect they are in the minority). The Football League needs to look at ticketing arrangements for away fans in televised long distance matches. By all means take the money that the phone hackers are offering, but at the same time, reinvest some of that in rewarding the loyalty of dedicated match-going travelling supporters. They are fast becoming a dying breed.
Now our 2 televised games are against teams supported by colleagues - what makes it worse is that they are higher levels than me. The Forest fan is a manager on the admin side, and the Boro fan is the AD for my section..
It's a multiplier really. While defeat would be ten times as painful as usual, if we win both of those you'll have bragging rights for months.
Middlesbrough away - are we that attractive to Sky? I would have thought it might be a "kid a quid" game???? Its not as if Boro are selling out.
Unfortunately it pretty much ties in with our standing these days. Get the mandatory Watford games out of the way because we won't be featuring them after Christmas.
Can we just shift all our away games to friday night and televise all of them, because as far as i am aware we were undefeated in those games the past 2 seasons, including 2 against QPR
