..but it could be next week! We must be the smallest team in the Premiership playing the largest. Can anyone confirm? (I am off to bed now so I haven't got the time!!)
Am I bored enough to work out some stats? Is work quiet enough? Across the board, Stoke's average height is 185.4cm, so about 6'1" across the squad. The Swans, on the other hand, come in at 179.1cm. Their starting lineup against the Swans(with allowance for artistic interpretation) will probably be something like Begovic, Huth, Shawcross, Wilson, Wilkinson, Whelan, Pennant, Palacios, Etherington, Walters and Crouch. These players average height is 185.1cm, but this is deceiving as Crouch and Begovic skew the figures somewhat. I think it's a sign of Stoke's changing tactics that there are a lot of their shortest players in their "best 11", as they are moving away from physicality and looking to play more football on the ground. Their good showing in the fair play table so far is worth noting too. The Swans starting eleven is likely to be, in my opinion, the same as at Chelsea but with Dobbie and Graham replacing Gower and Lita. This'll give us an average height of 177.0cm Fairly big difference! Be interesting to see what happens on the field...
Size is not everything , it's how you use it that is important - are we talking about football here ?
Thanks Scott - Our tallest player who is likely to play is Rangel - Stoke have 8 players the same size or taller
Interesting that pretty much all of their shortest players are likely to feature though. Sign of a changing style I think.
