Just six points from the last crop of games will confirm what most have had to accept all season: the Rs are the best team in the Championship, and have been from the outset. Four of the last five are against capable opposition that need points themselves, and the other (Watford away) is against a capable side that has little more than pride to play for. However, three of these games are at fortress LR, and on the evidence of our performances away from home so far, we're usually difficult to break down and should be able to manage a draw at Cardiff and/or Watford. Job done then - or is it? Do you expect a clear road ahead - or could there be a couple of banana skins hidden somewhere among the games to come and if so where?
if we win monday night and then draw at cardiff. we will win on goal differents if norwich win all their games and we lose the rest of ours
And the points total is assuming the teams below us get maximum points from the run in, which I doubt
If we beat Derby, then only Cardiff and Norwich can catch us, and both would need to win all their games.
Can't see Cardiff and Norwich dropping many of the remaining 12 points. The stakes are so high for them and their form is fair to good. For us, I think both Derby and Hull could turn out to be banana skins. Both home games, but Derby are not quite safe yet and Hull are still very much in the running for the last play-off spot: their away record is almost identical to ours. Both are in reasonable form. Slipping up against these sides could make things a bit awkward for the following away games. That would leave us well stressed on 6 and 7 May. We've got to pull out all the stops and secure a decent win on Monday night. (It should be okay given Derby are not the same team we forced the draw against early on. Commons is doing well at Celtic - and Hulse... ahem, well that's another story!)
as it is, a win tomorrow would make us pretty much uncatchable as it would require us to lose every remaining game by about 3-0 and BOTH cardiff and norwich to win all their remaining games by a margin of 3-0. So short of an FA stich up, the fat lady is warming up her vocal chords COYRS
Don't know about easily but it could happen. That's why I said can't see them dropping many points (was tempted to say any, then I thought a bit harder about it!).
It was over against derby away wasent it?? In all seriousness i think we will get three points tonight...I hope a win at Cardiff and the real party can start at Home to Hull...
QPR 0 Derby 0. One of my banana skins out of the way. Great reaction save by Paddy to prevent a damaging slip up.
