All you need to know about Serbian striker Nemanja Nikolic, who is wanted by Swansea City and a host of English clubs this summer.

We like to keep abreast of all the likely transfer rumours out there circulating and one that has appeared over the weekend involves talented striker Nemanja Nikolic.

So we have done a little bit of research and found out a bit more about him in case your team snaps him up this summer.

    1. Born in the north of Serbia the 6ft tall marksman turns 25 on New Year’s Eve this year and despite his place of birth has never played a top flight match in his homeland. He left local club FK Senta for Hungarian side Barcsi SC when he was 19 where he remained for one season. Barcsi was just the start of his Hungarian adventure as he first started to make a name for himself at lowly Kaposvolgye before a move to Kaposvari FC in 2008.

    2. His move to Kraci was fruitful as he went on to become a goal sensation for the club scoring 30 goals in 49 appearances in a 2 year period. After interest from big Hungarian sides such as Ujpest and Ferencvaros; Nemanja decided to sign for Videoton instead in 2010.

    3. In his first season he became top scorer in the league and helped Videoton to a Hungarian league runner up medal before following it up the next season by helping to fire Videoton to the Hungarian title for the first time in their history and Champions League football. He scored one of the goals against his former club, Kraci, in the game that secured the title.

    4. After the arrival of former Swansea and Leicester manager Paolo Sousa at Videoton he continued to score goals for the club as they finished runners up in the league and won the Hungarian League cup. He can reportedly represent either Hungary or Serbia at international level but so far has not played for either.

    5. Nemanja has scored 36 goals in 70 appearances for Videoton and now reportedly seeks a move to a bigger European league. Teams in England are reportedly keen on signing the potent finisher with Swansea considered to be the front runners.

    6. He is not to be confused with Montenegrin midfield player Nemanja Nikolic of OFK Belgrade of another namesake, a popular folk singer and 2004 finalist of Serbia’s version of the X Factor.

    Nice post, Sam.

I know HJ is always on the lookout for a bargain but even I didn't make the mistake of thinking he was a Serbian X-Factor finalist!

Looks like he could be worth a punt and fits with our policy of buying gems at a reasonable price that few people in this country have heard of. Interesting.

If this guy is scoring goals with Paulo Sousa as boss he should score a bin full in an attacking team..

Hungarian League is like League 1 standard in my opinion. Unless he's under a million, we shouldn't bother. Pretty sure I've read that article before as well JACKson...

    Supersonic.., I concur.

We have better players here already. Yes I am talking about Moore and Lita. I'm sure either of these would be big hits in the Hungarian league.

Where did Taylor play before here? Rangel? Bodde? Small teams in 2nd, 3rd divisions. Can't really write someone off because they play lower league football.

We have a knack of unearthing gems, he may well be one.
