Charlton Athletic FC formerly solicit applications for the post of First Team Manager. Applicants should have a basic knowledge of football, and playing experience is valued but not essential. Applicants having previously worked under the owner, M. Roland Duchalet can consider themselves ahead of the game (until it starts!) No previous knowledge of the Championship, or indeed English football are required. Indeed, it is of no value knowing the individual strengths and weeknesses of players as you will almost never be required to play them in their strongest positions. Promoting youth values will be well regarded, but only if coupled with an ability to destroy young players confidence. An ability to present unlikely excuses and foolish comments at press conferences is essential, and candidates may be required to demonstrate this in an interview situation. Spoken French, Flemish, Hungarian and Hebrew are all necessary, and a limited ability to speak basic gutter English would be a plus. An ability to achieve no progress whatsover, and indeed to gradually produce less and less effective teams, plus an ability to introduce disharmony and anxiety in the changing rooms and on the terraces, is essential, as is an unswerving loyalty to a boss you are unlikely to meet., even when he sacks you. Paul Hart is returning as head of the academy and Nathan Jones as Development Squad manager. We are re-signing Kermorgant, Morrison, Devite, Michael Smith and Hamer, but West Ham refused our bid for Poyet so he is only coming in on loan to the end of the season. Loans for Buyens and Bulot have been cancelled. We have bought out the contracts of Ghoochanejhad, Parzyszek, Tucudean and Nego and will recall Pope from Bury. Offers over 150,000 quid will be entertained for Gudmundsson and over 150 quid for Moussa. We refused an offer of one million from Brighton to take Stephens off their hands. Bradley Pritchard is coming back as the club's mascot and Riga as toilet cleaner. Wilson, Gomez and Cousins will be given improved and/or extended contracts and Powell will be given four million quid to spend on a striker and LM. Surely not another 'network' manager? If we are going back to basics, it has to be Curbs.....? Playing academy products is fine, to a point; but we need somewhat of a radical overhaul. But l doubt RD. will be willing to spend the cash or even take a gamble. Look at the transformation of Birmingham in recent times. I feel we have an owner of the same mind as the guy at Leeds, and look what is happening to them! Stop the trickle, before it becomes a flood. If our club was not perceived to be in trouble before, we most certainly are now unless the right appointment is made, and certainly not just on a 12 month rolling contract. Stability is required big time, not to mention 4 or 5 new players before the end of January.
In her program notes Katrien wrote about how well we were doing, meeting our targets etc. Shows how much Roland values the opinion of his CEO.
A network manager i think would be the wrong choice. It seems to be a merry go round for them sack from club move a round, to me i would not care to much about getting the sack as i know i will get a offer of a job at another club. Tim Sherwood was a guest of RD's so the rumour mill suggests, so could it be him ?
Tim Sherwood has managed Spurs, and would be much too expensive. A network manager might but the wrong choice but it's what we're going to get. Mind you, the rate we're getting through managers there might not be any network managers left to impose on us before too long.

Would he return?.....................................? ALAN Curbishley has confirmed he would be open to a return to management at former club Charlton Athletic. Curbishley was talking to Sky Sports on Monday morning about a number of issues from the weekend, and Bob Peeters' sacking on Sunday night was brought up. "If they wanted to talk to me, I would talk to them," he told The Morning View. "But I think they've probably got someone lined up." The 57-year-old had a fairytale spell as Addicks boss for 15 years and is arguably their best manager of all time for taking them to the Premier League and making them an established top flight side. Since his departure nearly nine years ago, Charlton have been relegated from the Premier League (2007) and then the Championship two seasons later (2009). Charlton fans are understood to be on the fence with a return for Curbishley - he hasn't managed for six years since leaving West Ham. However, they certainly can't argue of his record at The Valley - and with some stability needed, a return for the Valley legend can't be ruled out. It would certainly change the minds of owner Roland Duchatelet from a few fans, too. Are we on the fence about Curbs? I'd love for him to come back, if it was realistic then my first choice. However - with RD at the helm, I just can't see it. I think Curbs knows that too.
Another flaw in this network thing is the fact he moves managers around that he has already sacked. So if he's sacked them, he hasn't deemed them good enough. And we're to believe he is an astute businessman.
Super - the word is that Roland Douche fired Luzon, but didn't pay him off, keeping him as retained. Is a bit of a pattern becoming familar here ? Network players & coaches....does Bob Peeters know that way to Ujpest?
My man on the inside ( not Parkhurst) reckons Vital Borkelmanns, Belgium's assistant manager, is at the training ground. His last job was at Denders, where he got the bullet for leading them down into the third tier.
