Any club if they so wish should be allowed to have a standing area. Only half wits, control feaks and politicians think differently.

You can't dispute that seating has made football stadiums safer environments

Yes you can. Safe standing areas in Germany are safer than seated areas. Seats are hazards in themselves.

Ever heard of the trafford report? Made by H&S experts who found that standing permanently in front of a seat was safer than sitting then standing then sitting again as fans do all the time. Get in touch with the FSF re standing v seating and you will be told the stats [spelling is crap] do not add up. There are no unsafe terraces anymore only safe ones.

Whilst I agree that standing might be safer than sitting, that is now.

I have no idea if you were around in the 80's and apologies now if you were. But back then some of the games you were getting crushed. I can remember the playoff against Sheffield United when some bird got her tits out and crowd surged forward. Great laugh for me in my twenties but old people getting knocked over was not much fun for them, especially if they were trapped against the barriers.
Also on an away game to Cambridge when we were penned in like cattle was bit worrying.

But back then construction sites tHealth and Saftey was just a warning to be carefull if your lucky. Now a day's you can't take a piss without a risk assessment.

I agree that at the time they made the correct decision following the Hillsborough disaster to change grounds to all seater. But now they could control it better so that it is safer to stand.

I was about in the seventies. The women you mention still goes and attends matched in the Eastend.

Terraces are safe now. Germany uses four different versions including large well managed terraces.

Went three seasons ago. One of the best aways in the divsion.
