He’s done a decent job as Mayor, hence being re-elected twice. He governs for ordinary Londoners, unlike his predecessor who just sucked up to the billionaire oligarchs buying up real estate. And if he keeps ****s like you away from the capital, that’s an added bonus

Sadiq Khant has been mayor since 2016, following on after Boris Johnson and Ken Livingstone. Look at some of his achievements: In 2021, TfL needed a £1.6bn bailout from the government after it had gone bankrupt twice since 2016. Council Tax bills: the Mayor of London’s precept has risen by £195 since Khan came to office from £276 when Boris left office (when it had actually reduced during his time). TfL Crime Rate per million passengers: 18.6 up by a third. In 2024, Khan offered Underground workers a four day week on the same pay when they threatened strike action. In August 2024, Angela Rayner cut the national London housebuilding target to 81,000 from 99,000. Khan’s own ‘London Plan’ required 52,000 homes but he has failed to reach that in any year between 2020 and 2023, managing only 37,000. Building starts have fallen every year since 2015. In no year since the 1930s have more than 60,000 homes been built in London. As one might expect, Khan blames all his failures on the Tory government. That one won’t wash anymore: the Tory scapegoat has gone and the ‘difficult decisions’ about funding are being made by Sir Keith Stalin and Rachel from Accounts.
Obviously you have not heard: Great British Energy is going to be headquartered in Aberdoom, so there will be tens of thousands of well paid jobs to replace all those ones that we had in oil and gas exploration. Hydrogen buses cost about half a million each, double the cost of a diesel bus. Is this bus a pure Hydrogen bus or is it a Hydrogen-battery hybrid? Hydrogen costs more than twice as much as diesel but, obviously, produces zero nasty emissions just water. Hydrogen extraction is very energy intensive (making it expensive) and not climate friendly so this is just moving the environmental damage out of sight. Inconvenient realities.
