One of ER's favourites. Anyhoo, watched a documentary about him last night and he really was an incredible man. Left home at 13 and walked from London to Cardiff (It took him two weeks) to get a job on a ship. Played mutiple musical instruments and was Army flyweight boxing champ.
Charlie Chaplin was a big fan of Wisdom, calling him his 'favourite clown.' Not sure what he thought of ER, though.
I couldn't stand Charlie Chaplin. Give me Laurel & Hardy, Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton and The Marx Brothers any day.
Norman Wisdom is an amazing man by any standards. A man that overcame everything life threw at him, not once, not twice, but multiple times. When he sings "don't laff at me, cos am a fool", if that doesn't bring a tear ter yer eye yer no human.
