Hell of a finish. He was only on the pitch two mins, but up he up he popped (AGAIN). What did you think of his match winning contribution Perce ?
'The Last of the Wummer Swine' has also promised that he will applaud NP if we win 4 home games in a row. So I hope you are all ready if we beat Watford to witness his big climb down. Maybe he should start with; ' I admit I'm a tosser, I have been absolutely wrong in my criticism of the manager and NP is brilliant because ...'
Aw come on Perce, big up lad. You were on as i posted this thread. What did you think of Nick Barmby today ?
Nick Barmby has indeed popped up and scored another important goal in a long list of important goals for his home town club BUT we cant keep carrying a player that can only manage a fraction of a game, After this season he needs to hang up his boots and WE need to keep him as a youth or reserve team coach.
If you're good enough you're young enough. Barmby is now a very good impact player which he proved today. Personally I don't think that qualifies as 'carrying' him.
Don't get me wrong I've always been a big fan of Nick, All I'm saying is this must surely be his last season, If a player isn't capable of playing 90 minutes we need to seriously consider swapping him for one that can. What if we sustain a few injuries??? Anyway the blokes a star and hopefully one day he'll be our manager.
agreed. hopefully we'll secure Waggy and Brady and Barmby can work with the youngsters creating the next Barmby
And I still believe Windass should be with us in some role, Okay he's not Mr. Articulate but how many of them really are?
I don't think Barmby's wage is anything big enough to prevent us having another younger player as well.
He came on at Donny and lifted the whole team, he came on yesterday and won us the game, as long as he's making contributions like that, he should carry on doing so.
Having just watched the FL show, it shows how quick wits count. Both Barmby and Waghorn were on the back post, Nick beat Waggy to the ball. So an old bloke beats a young kid by a yard because he can read the game better.
Dean, I'd rather have Nicky on for 10 minutes than Simpson for 90.. and as for ageism, how old was a certain Mr Windass when he scored that Wembley goal?
Deano was 37 /38 I believe but he was capable of comfortably playing most of a game with no fear of his legs falling off. I'd rather have Barmby on for ten minutes than Simpson for 90 also. I'm not saying anything else about Nick he's been a great player for us.
Barmby always gets the crowd going, gives the players and crowd a lift, much like Billy Sharp did for Donny. Barmby seems to have an instant impact with his energetic ways, the chant 'Theres only one Nicky Barmby' always makes hairs on back of neck stand up. He is a City LEG-END and he still proves his worth, totally sgree with OLM that he won us the game yesterday with his 3 touch of the ball. Credit to NP for making the perfectly timed Substitution.
