Austin has been linked with a host of Premier League sides after scoring 18 goals in the top flight last season, while Phillips has reportedly attracted the interest of West Bromwich Albion. Ferdinand has confirmed that bids have been made for the players, but the West Londoners are not satisfied with them. "We had an offer come in for Matty Phillips that was well below what we value him at, so we turned the offer down. We also had an offer for Charlie which, again, was not where we want it to be," Ferdinand told West London Sport. "If they continue to offer that kind of money then I'll be pleased because we'll end up keeping the players. They [Austin and Phillips] are aware of the situation. They're fine and are just getting on with what they've got to do. "You're a professional for Queens Park Rangers at this moment in time. Until that changes I expect your professionalism in everything that you do – and so far they have been absolutely bang on." It has been reported that QPR want at least £15m for Austin and £10m for Phillips. http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...inand-qpr-wont-drop-asking-prices_233407.html
If we manage to sell both of them for that valuation then we've honestly pulled off the 2 greatest sales in our history. Ask yourself this, will either of them ever be sold again for more money than that? I'm saying not a chance. £25 million to reinvest for the future would be welcome.
It is good that he is being strong but I fear it is just posturing that merely confirms they will both be gone. We mostly knew that anyway but some of us (daft people) are still clutching at hope!
If they go for these asking prices and not a million less, I will be happy.enough, though I would much prefer them to stay. They ought to make a very decant pair in the Championship, and with a strengthened central defense in particular, with them we could get promoted again.
£10m is a bit high for Phillips to be fair. If we could get 8 it'd be a good deal. 15 for Charlie is a fair price
the one thing that's pissing me off is these clubs offering players they are desperate to get off the books at inflated valuations, that we probably aren't even interested in!! However that could just be media talk most of it is
Pay up or shut up and i am glad Sir Les has said that. But agree with RTID that it just reinforces that they will be sold at some stage.
Exactly right, both of these sales represent profits and knowing we've made the max money on them is a great sign for the future.
I'd be much happier if they both stayed, but until any club reaches OUR valuation, we should tell them to 'do one'.
So what's the story on Fer? Does nobody want him at all? I'm a bit surprised by that. Two seasons running he's gone to the Prem's whipping boys. Surely some manager somewhere fancies the chance of making him play to his full potential. So what's the story on Caulker? Does nobody want him at all? Actually don't bother answering that one. I know the answer. I'm not at all surprised by the lack of interest in him. Not many managers who have ambitions of surviving/winning trophies/getting into Europe can afford to ship a guaranteed 10 goals a season due to his howlers.
If Man City took Fer they would then have a midfield trio of Fer, Fernando and Fernandinho and for the right price we could throw in Ferdinand as Director of Football and Fernandes as owner. Say £200 million for the lot! Sounds Fer to me...
10 million is way over the top for Phillips, but I really like the way the club is being run now (Finally!!).
What we also want them to say is don't leave until last day/week of window or the price goes up! Might give us better chance to reinvest wisely!
