Hello all After yesterday's rip roaring all the way win by Rose Blossom I have decided to do another thread on my main selection. Please just humour me. Its at Thirsk today (Oddy I think I have this one right) in the 3.45 an open age fillies handicap over the Derby trip of 1m4f. Apparel is the horse, she is a five times raced filly who is impeccably bred for the racing game, being by Cape Cross out of a Selkirk mare. On breeding she is really a cut above today's field being a half sister to Mount Nelson (ROG) and also Monitor Closely (Oasis Dream) who sat at the top table over trips of 10 to 12 furlongs. The interesting thing with the breeding is that Mount Nelson and Monitor Closely both were by more speed influenced sires than Apparel and still ran their best over the middle distances, this suggests that Apparel perhaps is going to be better over this 12 furlong trip and perhaps further. She won very readily last time out in a 3 year old Newmarket handicap, beating one of todays opponents in a very taking style. Jeu De Vivre is that opponent and she showed good form in her next run finishing a head third at Ayr behind Grandad Bill. That form to me looks really good for this level and I do think Apparel is likely to improve for that run. She is up 6lbs for that effort but I think that is not going to be enough to stop her from winning another race as I was very impressed by how well she stayed on and went clear of the second (who was well clear of the rest). She is lightly raced and unexposed and therefore I think its fair to suggest that she is likely to be able to win again. She receives the important weight for age from her elders and that adds to the interest and at 11/4 I think she is a fantastic bet. I have also done straight forecasts with the three year olds Jeu De Vivre and Sixty Roses. Good luck one and all
I haven't bothered checking yesterday's results, but it's nice to hear the the filly won. Did she lead throughout? Nice write up by the way mate.
For interest Nass. Not if that's good or bad news. Timeform View Apparel improved a chunk when opening her account in a Newmarket handicap over this trip last month and has excellent prospects of following up off her revised mark. Jeu de Vivre and Gems may offer the most resistance. Timeform 1-2-3 1: APPAREL (6) 2: JEU DE VIVRE (3) 3: GEMS (2)
Doesn't surprise me at all Ron. I wonder what mark they have her on and whether she has the little 'p' Amazingly (in my opinion) you can get 3/1 for her today. Far bigger than I was expecting.
