The âGuardianâ reported today that Sir Henryâs promising and rapidly improving filly Wild Coco will have her next run at âGloriousâ Goodwood in the âLillie Lantry Stakesâ and that this would very much so be a trial for the St Leger. A winner of her last 2 races (both over 12 furlongs) and a regular eye catcher in âThe Weekenderâ gallop reports it would appear that the filly would head to Doncaster if she continues to impress Sir Henry and stays the additional 2 furlongs next Thursday. Looking at her pedigree I wouldnât envisage a problem with the trip and she is a most intriguing runner both next week and then possibly in the old Leger. Is incidentally 20/1, at the moment, for the latter race. Odds that could constrict markedly should Wild Coco impress at Goodwood. Its 19 years since a filly won the final Classic by the way. Could that long losing run finally be broken in 2011 by Sir Henry???
I was very impressed SBC and as my NAP was never in danger which makes a change. She's predominantly German bred and for some reason their horses tend to be tough. Sio if it comes to a battle she won't shirk it. She could have any measure of ability. However I don't share your opinion that she should definitely stay the trip. 12f no problem, but that extra 2f often finds some out. Henry has sent horses out before on a mission to find out if they can make the distance. A great prospect though no doubt, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Vermeille as an alternative.
SHC was this morning on ATR's discussing the clash with Frankel and Canford.. and Wild Coco did come up as a topic later on in the convo... either way Cecil feels Wild Coco has a lot of potential she is quite a big horse and she's only had 3 runs...she is entered in the St Leger along with a few others... I've been told by my source in Newm that she is very smart and therefore i'll be having some of the 20/1
