'Bristol City Holdings has today (June 18th) announced a business restructuring programme aimed at improving the overall financial performance of Ashton Gate Ltd.

Employees of the company have been informed that a consultation on the future staffing needs will now be taking place and that this will involve some posts across the business becoming redundant.

It is the wish of everyone at Ashton Gate Ltd to make this process as straightforward as possible. As such the company is inviting applications for any voluntary redundancies in the first instance. It is anticipated that following this stage, further posts will be under review.

The restructuring is part of the group's ongoing commitment to the future of Bristol City Football Club, its shareholders and fans. As part of this responsibility, the group will also work towards aligning the finances to the incoming Football League's Financial Fair Play framework.'

...........should we throw them a lifebelt?!

I sincerely hope that a few honest citizens aren't pressurised into giving up their living while some dilitante absorbs their yearly salaries in one week's overpaid income. I felt that the Fair Play rule was meant to cap the players ridiculous salaries.

I have posted the above on the City Board.

We know that the financial administration of our red neighbours has been pretty inadequate for many years. Without SL its quite possible that they would have revisited 1982 once again.

But the announcement has the hint of a bad smell!!

Well it is 30 years since they last went bust and made everyone redundant, so it's about time it happened again!

Seems like the Financial Fair Play rules are beginning to bite - it's quite clear that they're a financial basket case without Lansdown's largesse and now that his generosity is being curtailed, they're having to make major cutbacks.

Doesn't bode well for the coming season....(snigger).

You still bitter because our owner is richer than yours ;)

Here's a sensible question for you. And not a wind up

When you get your planning permission for your new ground (genuinely hope you get it). How are you going to finance it when losing your rent next season from the egg chasers, having low gates at the mem. I know your hoping to sell the mem to part fund. Just where has the rest come from?
Just curious because being in construction seen a few ventures get started and the cost go up. And until it's built no revenue.
To give you an example there is a **** off sized factory in Newport that I worked on in the 90's that is still sat empty. The company could not fund it when it was being built.
I was only wondering because, we are lucky to have a rich suger daddy to fund ours, if it ever happens.

Some people miss the point entirely!!

Should the Rovers get their planning permission through for both the new stadium and for Sainsbury's at the Mem there will be a remarkable change in the way things are.

The association with UWE is unique. UWE will have added to their already internationally important sporting facilities. They already have international class sporting facilities. Access to a modern football stadium on their door step will make them one of the most prestigious Sports Universities in the country.

Universities like Durham attract international players from all over the world to study for their degrees. They employ world class international coaches for their sports teams. It is significant that Durham has in recent years surpassed Bristol in that it now hosts international Test cricket and it cannot go un-noticed that the University's sporting development was in the vanguard of that achievement.

Universities are mega buck organisations and UWE has great ambitions.

UWE already has the largest campus in the UK

The Rovers have been good companions with UWE and the development of male and female sport.

It could well be pay-back time.

One post in 4 months and it's just a straw clutching thread again..

You make me laugh, if we are in financial liability what the hell are you in?

I'm glad that SL is running BCFC in the correct manner, it will avoid us having to go through the same sort of disaster we had in 1982. Players wages HAVE TO BE REDUCED. Football is just no longer sustainable ran in the current way. But some Clubs are just paying lip service to FFP and fans STILL have expectations of multi million pound spending sprees, (despite numerous threads bemoaning the sums of money being thrown around) just reading our board alone will give you some idea of unreasonable expectation..

When SL walks away one day and he may well do.. he will leave us DEBT free and these measures will ensure we may be able to actually afford to pay our way..

I agree that PP for Sainsburys is the sticking point....but 'NEVER'? No, I don't think 'NEVER' is the right word. It may way be difficult and drawn out, just like Ashton Vale, but I think we'll prevail eventually, just like you will with Ashton Vale.

And SL running 82 in a 'correct manner' - really? If he walks away and you're debt free, that will be because he would have written off over £30million of loans. His oft-stated aim was to set up 82 so that it is a sustainable business.

Greece would be sustainable if its creditors were prepared to write off all its debt! :emoticon-0103-cool:

Still with your history of transients and rentals, you will cope with UWE or the minimal regardless, your large known debt, both external and internal, what ever you con your support into calling it will be another problem for you,I wouldn't crow and walk to tall if I was you...:emoticon-0105-wink:

The main difference is we are and have always been skint whereas 82 limited get all cocky about having a very wealthy chairman. Unfortunately for them the sugardaddy is slowly but surely putting distance between himself and the club as he realises it's a money pit with no payback. All 82 limited has given him is one Wembley appearance which has cost over 30million quid and since then have gone backwards.Seems like he now views rugby club as a more attractive investment. :)

Hey Wiz, we ain't cocky - we're all too aware of the financial limitations of our club.

It's 82 that are cocky. SL showers your club with money and then realises that however hard you polish a turd, it still remains a turd!

£30million debt and rising. That must be a worry! :emoticon-0107-sweat
