Its beginning to look like unless there is genuine quality added in January that we are odds on to be relegated and I mean genuine quality, forget about players with potential like Macheda or Jelavic(?). We need players that have done it consistently at this level. Who would have thought that Norwich and Swansea would fare so much better than us. Are our players any worse? I don't think so. If that's the case the finger must start to be pointed towards Warnock. Is it tactics? Has he signed the wrong players? Is he failing to get the best out of the players that he has? What the f.uck is going on?
You can attribute it to many things, but we are where we are. If we were going to change the manager, that should have happened in November to give the newboy a chance to assess what he's got and what he needed. We were all largely behind Warnock, so we've gotta pray that he spends well this month. This has to be his last roll of the dice in the PL and there's little room for error.
Looking at the bottom end of the table, and with some of the other teams having a game in hand, we are now clearly part of a group of five that are getting stranded from the others at the lower end of the table. After going 1-0 up today, I really had high hopes of a commanding win and 3 pts, and even in the face of adversity with 10 men, we seemed to be managing okay, and even at 1-1 I thought we might just eke out a win. Personally I would have preferred to see Taarabt stay on for the remainder of the game as he seemed to link up well with SWP. I guess this kind of stress all goes with the turf when you are a life-long R's supporter. Right now I would gladly accept our current 17th place come the end of the season.
With our current form are we really going to attract quality signings to make a difference. Something has certainly happened over the past couple of months that's affected our play as we we're doing ok but now we're heading in one direction.
we have now found our level, after a fairly fortunate start to the prem lge. the fight to stay up really starts in earnest now, and be honest we all expected that. the positive thing is we are not adrift, we have money to spend, and despite the results we seem to have a good team spirit. at the start of the season most on here were willing to take 17th place and i dont see that changing. whether we achieve that or not depends on the quality we bring in. its important that you guys that attend the matches stay behind the players and the manager. i,ll be over for the wigan game and will be giving it all. keep the faith.
Corporal Fraser I presume?... 18 games to go and the next ten decide our fate, five wins minimum (or equivalent) are required...
The current goal differences of the bottom five teams, compared to others in the lower end of the table, is quite significant and should be alarming for us. GP GD PTS 16 Wolves 20 -14 17 17 QPR 20 -16 17 18 Wigan 19 -20 15 19 Blackburn 20 -14 14 20 Bolton 19 -19 13
Fulham have now given themselves further breathing room with a late win and 3 pts against Arsenal, as could Sunderland at Wigan tomorrow (not sure about WBA at Spurs). We could therefore find ourselves stranded in the bottom five of the table by 5 or 6 pts.
Sad to say it but I am now resigned to the unattractive style of football we are playing with little hope of winning if it continues.
