Joining from Watford on a season-loan, the 21-year-old striker becomes Jack Ross’ eighth summer signing. Speaking about his arrival, the Sunderland manager said: ““We need more players in the forward areas and Jerome is somebody who fits into that bracket, as he can play in multiple positions across the front line. “I’m pleased to get him in and he’s at a stage in his career where he needs to play games, so he’s hungry to prove himself and he’s got a big opportunity here to do that.” Born in Birmingham, Sinclair started his career with West Bromwich Albion before moving to Liverpool. He rose through the ranks at Melwood before making his first-team debut at 16, as he became the youngest player to represent the Reds in a competitive game. After a brief spell on loan at Wigan Athletic in 2015, Sinclair returned to Anfield and made his Premier League debut on 10 May in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. His first senior goal followed on 8 January 2016, as he found the net in an FA Cup tie with Exeter City. In May 2016, the striker signed a five-year deal with Watford and has gone on to make nine Premier League appearances for the Hornets, whilst also spending time on loan with Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship Sinclair has also turned out for England at under-16 and under-17 level. Sunderland AFC would like to extend its sincere thanks to Watford for the cooperation and support they have shown in making the loan deal happen. Can anybody shed any light on him? Alls i know is hes still a bairn at 21, was really highly rated as a kid and made his first team debut at 16, Watford paid 4m for him 2 years ago but his career seems to have come to a standstill?
Jerome Terence Sinclair (born 20 September 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Watford. He represented England up to under-17 level. He spent his youth at West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool, making his senior debut for the latter at the age of 16 years and 6 days in 2012, their youngest player of all time. He went on to make four further appearances for Liverpool after a brief loan spell at Wigan Athletic where he appeared just once. He signed for Watford in July 2016 for a fee of £4 million. He spent the second half of the 2016–17 season on loan to Championship club Birmingham City.
The fact hes only 21 fills me with hope. Hes had big expectations as a kid and hes barely even reached anywhere near his potential yet. To think we all still have hopes for Watmore whos a year older says it all. He'll get games here and hopefully he'll be like a coiled spring. I still hope to see a big lump of a striker late 20s/earlys 30s sign though. Every team at this level needs one of those.
Me too mate, my gut feeling says our whole teams going to do well but what do i know after the shyte i came out with this time last year . The fact we have 2 good keepers in Stryjek and Mcglaughlin an experienced CB in Loovens, and Flanagan whos already won promotion from this league with Burton.. Reece James at Lb whos won back to back promotions with Wigan, Mathews an experienced RB, McGeouch pulling the strings in mid, and a host of young talent, with Mcgeady and Watmore still to come back tells me we'll be too strong for this league.
I certainly think we've signed the right sorts of players and going off the 6-0 drubbing we aren't going to take three quarters of the season to gel. McGeouch sounds like a class signing.
Another fit, eager young lad in the ranks - ready to prove himself. A good few more in over the next two weeks, a similar ilk to recent signings, would be great
Loovens IS class, and welcolme Jerome mate we need a mix of young lads really hungry for success, and about our club of course we are the biggest in this division and the championship, I love our new home top as well. Is this like 1987-88 with Marco and Eric ! I hope, and the grounds will be good for the supporters and no pressure on our players, so I feel we will win the league with Jack in charge. Bring on the mags in the f a cup as well !.

I think we need a Kevin Kilbane type signing. I wonder if he'll come out of retirement hehe. We will beat our record victory this season. 11-1 against Fairfield isnt it? I wonder if the pies will be as nice as last season, if not I hope we spend money on replacing all of the pink seats. I'm sick of leaving the stadium with with a big red stain on my arse hehe. I managed to find the remains of the remains of the remains of my season ticket and sellotape it back together. If they dont accept it i'll tear it up and never go back, unless we start winning again and get Mancini. Bring on the wall!
Have a look on twitter man - there's loads on there who "know" loads about him and say he's ****e - they must be right cos they say so!
How can anybody judge him. Hes only 21 and hardly been given a chance. Hes spent most his career so far in the Prem so breaking into a team is obviously going to be hard for a 21 year old. He looks alot older than his age looking at the pics. Hes a big strong lad with bags of pace. Thats exactly what we need.
Absolutely! same conversation on two threads but people are idiots! We have our share on here too. Twitter and forums!!
I dont go on Twitter but some of the comments ive read on Facebook about some of our signings are cringeworthy, their an embarassment to the club. Some people seriously need to get a reality check. Danny Graham was voted in the League 1 team of the year last season, that says it all really for the level we are now playing at.
