Scott Sinclair, one of Alan Pardew's favourite players, has been made available to sign by champions Manchester City

Newcastle United could be offered the chance to sign Scott Sinclair from champions Manchester City before the transfer window closes.

Alan Pardew is a fan of the 25-year-old after working with him during his time at Charlton Athletic.

The ex-Swansea City and Chelsea winger is available to leave Man City.

Manuel Pellegrini - who brought his side to Newcastle for the first game of the season this weekend - said: “We maybe have too many players in the squad at this moment, players who need to play.

“That is very important, especially for young players.

“John Guidetti or maybe Scott Sinclair, they may need to play in a different team.

“We will see between now until the end of the transfer window what happens with our squad.

“At this moment, though, we have too many players.”

City offered forgotten schemer Jack Rodwell to United and a host of other Premier League clubs before Sunderland coughed up for his services and £64,000-per-week wage demands.

Now another round of loan offers are about to take place around the Premier League from City, but it hinges on whether Pellegrini can bring in another player.

He added: ”We have had a lot of problems also with Financial Fair Play with the restriction on the amount of players we can put in our squad.”

Not sure there's point in either. For me we either spend what we need to and bring in a "first name on the team sheet" option, or leave it all alone.

Guidetti cannot be a much better option that the likes of Ayoze, Riviere, Ferreyra for a number of differing reasons, and I'd hate to see someone else pushing Rolando Aarons away from the first team. Sissoko will play most games and, for me, is first choice RM/RW, so that's the only spot I see for Sinclair. But as we appear unable to offload Overran, it's another shrug and "what's the point".

We should have invested in a quality goalscorer and a quality centre back. We haven't and probably won't do either. It's a real shame as Pardew has immediately started with old timers at the back, neither of whom are particularly great, so shows he has no faith in MYM or Saylor. We should have done all we could to offload one and bring in someone solid. Financially we should have been easily capable of competing for De Vrij. As for goals, just hope Cisse's operation was actually a lobotomy so he comes back remembering how to play football.

Don't want either here! We have Riviere, Cisse and Perez full time and Ferreya on loan. We either buy a proper fullt ime we own the full works first team striker or none at all.

As for Sinclair - no! no! no! no! no! Hell no! worst suggestion yet!

If Sinclair comes we'll get to see Big T.ts Flanagan at the matches. Something to ogle at.
