Is it not a contact sport. All these tossers making excuses for Gareth Bale can **** off. Just because you get touched doesn't mean you have to fall over like you've been shot!?!? Just because contact is made does not make it a foul. Look at Theo Walcott today against the mags, could have had a pen got back to his feet and completed his hat trick. Maybe if you followed that example and stopped trying to con referees you may score more goals.
Pieking, top excuse number one! At no point is he knocked off balance, he sticks his leg out towards Gardner and takes a leap of faith. Had he been knocked off balance he would have fell to the left and onto his side. There was contact but there was no foul and Bale attempted to cheat by diving. Just because there is contact diesn't mean you are not diving or cheating.
By Bales argument every corner would be a diving fest as soon as someone touches another player - **** excuse from Bale but it would be quite funny watching everyone diving to the ground in the pen at corners
Agreed..... People have to realise that just because your knees touch doesn't mean it's a foul. Joke!
When your running at the speed approaching that of an Olympic sprinter, the slightest contact is always going to throw you off-balance. It's debatable whether there was enough contact to warrant a penalty (I don't think there was) but Bale should never have received a yellow card for that. This is not the first time this has happened this season and in almost every case, the replays show that there was definite contact on Bale.
I watched the game on Sky out in Nigeria, we have a different commentary team to what you lads get back home and they showed a re-run of all 5 of Bales yellow (diving) cards. To be honest, apart from one, the other 4 were very minimal contact and he wasn't travelling at Olympic Sprinter speed either yet he went down like he'd been hit by a sniper every time. Lets be fair here mate. It's part and parcel of the modern game nowadays and it's ruining the game if all we can talk about after a very impressive display by Spurs, is the diving incident. And not just Bales either, Defoe should have been red carded for his dive. You played some pretty tidy football yesterday and on that form would be difficult to live with by just about any team outside the top 4, your are where you are on merit, you've played your way into the top 4 and deserve to be there from what i have seen of you this season. There's not been much mention of that has there? it's all about Bale and his cheating tactics which is a shame cos the lads actually a very, very good player.
With everyone that it was a dive and, it seems the yellow card for a dive doesn't stop it so why not red card them? If a player handles the ball on the line to stop a goal or fouls a player in a goal scoring position being the last man etc. they are red carded (most of the time) think it's trying to gain an unfair advantage, so what is the difference in that and diving. Not a pop at Bale here (as for me anyway all teams ours included do it) but, he did early on in his career turn to the dark side of diving same with Suarez they now have a rep for diving and everytime they go down it scrutinised by fans and media alike. Thing is with both those players they don't need to do it as they are both very good players so are these players going down "easily" of their own accord or is it instructions from their managers?
If that incident happened just inside our half and wide on the wing Bale would have stayed on his feet and flew down the wing , going to ground would have been the last thing on his mind. However because he is inside the box he thinks its acceptable to throw yourself to he ground it is blatant cheating, but the worst thing about it all is he thinks it is his right to go down because there is contact no matter how slight it is.
Bale is a top class player, of that there is no doubt. He is however also a monkey faced look-a-like cheating twat and there is absolutely no doubts about that either.
It's more the commentators and pundits that are annoying me. They seem to have forgotten the rules. Contact doesn't mean foul. Bale was excellent yesterday and so were Spurs. Which makes the blatant cheating worse! They don't need to do it and Defoe should be banned for that. The reason I hate the pundits and commentators excusing it with speed etc. you get football fans trotting out the same garbage as they have above.
I sit in the East Stand, my view was right behind the incident, Bale looked at Gardner, put his leg out to make contact then went over, a clear dive and the booking was deserved. Its ironic that if he had stayed on his feet, he had beat Gardner and would have been past him.
The thing with Bale is when he runs the channels and gets in the box all defenders have to be very careful with him as he goes over with the slightest mention of a contact being made like he did yesterday, however when he is steaming through the middle with a goal scoring opportunity he never goes down and carries on as he looks to score. As has been said he has great talent and he is letting himself down with these tactics. His bookings for diving have been given by different referees so that should tell him something. As for the pundits all talk on MOTD last night revolved around Bale and THFC its as if we didn't bother to turn up, I know Spurs deserved their result but it is demeaning to the other team that they don't even get a mention, and it's not just us that suffer.
THIS....with brass knobs, ribbons And sparklers. Such a true statement Billy Liar couldn't put a spin on it. (But dickheads like Clive Allen can)
If it had been one of our players who had done that the media would have slated him and branded him the worst cheat in history..
Some players delibiretly run at full pace though, and they know where to catch an apponents leg/foot etc, they must practice in training, some players actually run into a flailing leg and mainly in the penalty area. Bales knee was caught fair enough but does he and every player have to go down?. Anyhow i hope this time next year we are up there with Spurs going for 4th place because if teams like WBA and Everton are why can't we?. MON will have to tell them to keep hold of the ball first though, and find their own player, get a Attacking midfielder, Striker and defender and that will be a good start.
