Sorry but he's a very lucky lad to be at Newcastle playing regular first team football. Sign a decent LB, put Santon on his proper foot and Simmo can be sub.

Happy if he does. I'd rather a proper LB and stick Santon at RB, but for now I'm happy with Simpson. He's never outstanding but he's steadily decent enough for me. And has made a couple of vital stops too!

I'm with Smudger - a bit of stability is good.

To be fair to the lad, he was great the other day and gave us a bit of an attacking edge.

    Better with than without.

He's never going to set the world alight but he's useful to have in the squad as a player providing competition for places.

That and he's made some great clearances this season and seems to be slowly improving and getting more consistent.

Good news for now. But long term we need a new LB with Santon at RB and Danny providing the cover <ok>

He does my tits in but he deserves a new deal for that goal line clearance alone!

He's not the sort of player who I desperately want to stay, but I'd still be pleased if he signed a new contract.

Great news. Just the sort of player you need. He is 110% every game. Long term he has one hell of fight on his hands because once we sign a left back, he'll be competing with Santon who to be quite honest could be a world beater. I'm glad Simpson is up for that fight. Been one of best performers this year, and prior to the Liverpool game had been our best player for me for 4 or 5 games. He is not the most cultured but his tackles, blocks and goal line clearances have won us several points this year. I like his attitude and I like his professionalism while this saga has dragged on. If he does sign, those fans slating him over the last few weeks should take a long hard look at themselves and remeber we don't ever the information to judge if someone is greedy or not when it comes to contract talks. Unless you see the written offer the player receives, you're guessing and making assumptions.

Given we were told that the wage and length of contract were agreed some time ago, and it was the payment method that was the problem, does this mean Danny has accepted to take 20% in SD vouchers?
