So, what are your thoughts on Simon Walton now? Has he redeemed himself? He seems to have settled in well this season, do you think this is because he is now playing at his true level whereas before he was out of his depth? I know he will always be a difficult player to tame because that is just the type of man he is but you have to admit to feeling safer knowing it is him about to step up for the penalty, I know I do. He has to be one of the best players we have right now.

    What are your thoughts?

He did well today not withstanding he scored two. He seemed to have a bit to prove today with Purse back in defence and Wotton rejoining with all the hype it was bound to generate. He played further forward and with a bit more passion than has perhaps been the case previously at times. I say at times because he is a bit of an enigma. He can play well but it does seem as if it is onl when he wants to. Some games the passion is just not there and yet at others he is really up for the fight. Maybe for no other reason it might be a godsend that we signed Wotton. Wotton still oozes green and it is plain to see. He could not resist trying to up the players and the crowd even if Walton is Captain. Maybe Walton will now respond and up his game on a more constant level than before. I don't think he has anything to prove or redeem himself for anymore. All he has to do is keep performing like he did today and chip in with soe goals and he will be fine from here on in. He was unlucky to get booked today in my opinion as I don't think he even touched the player who went down holding his ankle as if his foot wa missing. He might have sulked before but today he shook the players hand and just got on with his job. Grown up perhaps as well.

Good penalty taker...........maybe all those penalties are giving him a false value..........interesting that he still took the penalty with Wotton present.

Well he is the captain Plym and as Wotton was fond of doing when he was captain he would snatch the ball off of who ever was lining up to take the penalty and point vigorously at the captains armband !

Walton..........seems to have spells of poor concentration levels............if he slips into one of his turn off spells............will he get a pasting from Wottons tongue........and what will be the result ?.

Wotton was a good penalty taker and so is Walton. He hasn't missed yet and Wotton hardly ever did to be fair. I don't think it was pulling rank. He has been taking them and scoring and there was no need to change that yesterday. As I said earlier, perhaps Wotton being there will keep Walton focused which is what he needs.
