With Simon King having mad his return to the starting line up and with his contact expiring at the end of the season would you:

    1. Renew his contract?

2a. If so how long for?

    2b. If not why not?

    I would 1. Yes

    2. 1 year with an option for a 2nd.

I'd offer it to him ASAP, of course there is always he'll get injured but I think he is worth the risk.

A one-legged Simon King could probably still offer more than Richards. If he can get a run in the side I would keep him!

Gemini - if you saw King on Tuesday you would want to give him a job for life. He is the one player who plays with the passion, committment and not inconsiderable skill ( which he has thankfully not lost ) that, apart from Cody, we probably last saw when Hess was playing ( IMO. )
I am certain Gills wouldn't be messing about in League 2, let alone its' bottom half if King had not had that injury.
    Long live the King.

As they say in cricket, form is temporary, class is permanent (or something like that).

King would never have been a Premiership player, but he's a very, very good 1st / 2nd division player who can anticipate situations, which is one of the most important qualities in a defender, and one that hopefully will compensate somewhat for the loss in his previous level of mobility since his injury. Providing he stays injury free I agree with Gemini - one year with an option for a second.

However, I'm afraid that if he does get injured again the correct decision must be not to renew, however hard that might be. If that is the case though I hope that he'd get a benefit match at least. He has been a wonderful and loyal player.

why would the club rush in now and offer king a contract...why???

he's made two starts in god knows how long...yes and played well, but why would they give him a contract now...for him to maybe breakdown again for good(lets hope not) and he's signed a one/two year deal before hand !

he knows the club have stood by him through all his time out, so wait till end of season...both parties win, due to seeing him over a few more games...hopefully !!!

though if that worked out, offer a year and a second year option if the club wants it !...but no way do it now !!!

then again....after todays performance, king may get a contract sooner than i thought, but the end of the season would still be right for all concerned.

well done simon king, so glad it's all coming togeather for you...long may it continue....LONG LIVE THE KING !!!
