It probably won't surprise RP to know that I rate Gillett.
I like his work rate and quick thinking. The times I have seen him he has spread the ball about well and put in a shift when the rest of the side looked lethargic.

Seems the media share my view too - but amazingly some on here have slated him despite him being mOTM!

    Strange

Came into form after the Gillingham game (Mark Divvys bollocking). Personally don't want to see us sign him, there's much better options in the club already

Don't want to confuse the thread but I would rather have the Wade Elliott option..

Totally agree. I was just bemused to see how much criticism he received when to me there were far more deserving victims.

I wouldn't be upset if we didn't sign him - but also wouldn't be upset if we did.

Yep agree with Lan. We have Kelly and Pack who not only want to play, need to play. If we sign Gillett then so be it but I would personally rather see our own players play. He would be a wasteful signing IMO but not a terrible one.

Gillett appeared to be a good pro during his loan spell with us.

As for next season if he signed for us I would see him as a squad player (maybe play 10-12 games) at best.

If he goes elsewhere then good luck to the lad

**** me I'm going to have to agree with Shiny on this.

I thought Gillett was ok and improved as time went on, but with Kelly and Pack I don't see the point in signing him.

The other thing I thought about the other day on Shiny's quiz is what happened to O'Connor, I know he got injured against Swindle but is he still ours or was he a loan signing?

He only played 3 times! If you look back at Wade Elliott after just 3 games people was saying he's a waste of space, now look some on OTIB want us to sign him on a two year deal.
Not saying he was any good, just I've learnt in the past never to judge players fully on a few games.

Having Kelly fit will be like having a new player added next season anyway. Elliott is a must but he is 35 and Gillet at 28 is a longer term option.

'Sign him on, excellent player, SM is to good for League One!' <laugh> - That's why Forest released him <laugh>

Pack and Elliot should be our 1st pick CMs next season with Bobby Reid and a hopefully fit Kelly also in contention.

I'm all for adding another CM but Gillet - you're having a laugh.

I hope Kelly is fully fit (physically and mentally) and is raring to go by August

If he is and we add Elliot and Pack then that is a very good looking Midfield already.

I haven't seen Gillett trip over his feet yet and Savage was a "Striker?" midfielders that can score goals are not two a penny.
Why am I bothering discussing this. Gillet could get picked up by Liverpool and be instrumental in them winning premiership next year and to one of our members he would still be crap!!!
PS Savage 23 appearances 1 goal
Gillet 23 appearances 2 goals so hes a better striker than savage?

Saw him play against Yeovil. One on one with only the keeper to beat and he somehow seemed to trip over the ball. Never did see a Bas goal, then again it couldn't have been that many!
