I shall be sending an email his way shortly, enough is enough. After his comments suggesting he has not received any negative feedback on his own performance I suggest we all send him our feelings to make it a bit clearer.
Tell him to have a quick look at this forum if he wants a feeling of supporters views. Very much doubt he will but I think it would make sense for him or someone at the club to read this and other forums just to keep in touch.
How did you get it Sven? If anybody has a TWTD account put it on there as well. I think its time to let him know (politely and respectfully, as it will sink in better than a rant).
Hey guys lets all create an open letter to him and then all of us sign it and send it! There must be 40 or 50 posters on the Ipswich board so any volunteers? Where are you ITFCPTC?
The problem is JWM an open letter would have to be carefully worded as we each have differing views on what problems need addressing. An overview may include losing contact with our history and a increasing gap between the club and its fanbase but in things like transfers, loans and contracts its very difficult to make a compelling case without the majority of the facts and figures to hand. I would be all for signing one based on the loss of a family emphasis and being part of the community.
I would love you to write it JWM. I dont always agree with your points but if there is one not606er who can show passion and the fears of our fans it would be you. Do a draft letter mate and post it on here - would be a brilliant read
Tractorbhoy Why not us all have a stab at one? Afterall there's nowt on TV tonight apart from Eastenders!
Hope thats a proper beer your offering and not some gassy ****e! Knowing me I would ramble on for hours if I had to write the letter so better not. Maybe Svendust will be the nice articulate letter composer and we can all just sign his!
Here is my effort Dear Mr Clegg (You ****ing useless ****) I am writing to let you know how much people despise you and to let you know that you are a ****ing useless knobhead. We all think its time you ****ed off back to screwing up athletics rather than ****ing up our beloved club. You seem to think that the fans don't have a problem with you but they do, most think your an arrogant, jumped up waste of space. So kindly leave our club alone and do the honourable thing and resign!!!!! Regards ITFCPTC
Spanish That is just quality mate but I don't think he will understand what are you are trying to say!
I got the email from a TWTD user, not tried it yet so it could be duff. I will write my own email and post it on here, the email will include a link to this forum and a quote of Spanish's post!
Hey Sven Make sure you send it with a DULUX logo at the top of the letter. He may take more notice of it then!
Here is the email i have sent to Cloggy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dear Mr Clegg After another spineless display on Saturday I feel the need to write a letter to vent my frustration at the lack of direction from our manager and the lack of football business sense that you are showing as the CEO of a club that i have supported since birth. Firstly Paul Jewell the manager has shown a lack of leadership, tactical knowledge and sheer common sense. His transfer dealings are a complete nonsense, relying on ageing premiership players that are a good 2 years past their sell by date on sky high wages is just sheer madness and any fan can see that the club is suffering because of it. Then to top all of this, it seems that we are now a blooding in school for other championship sides to give experience to their 3rd choice keeper, this smacks of a 2nd division mentality from yourselves. What are our scouting network doing, are you looking to the lower leagues to find the gems that are obviously there! look at Norwich City and their progression over the last 2 years and that (and i hate to say this) is what we need to do. All of this, is on top of the this is the obsession to sign a striker without dealing with the obvious problem in defence. Us ITFC fans know the problems (we have to sit through this rubbish) every Saturday and then have the unfortunate task of sometimes a midweek game as well. Paul Jewell has totally lost the supporters and needs to be removed ASAP, with a talented young manager brought in, who has used the lower leagues as a stepping stone and not a 'big name' to massage the ego's of the bigwigs within the walls of Portman Road. This brings me on to yourself, while i think that you are probably doing your best, it is abundantly clear that you are out of your depth without the knowledge to deal with the freefall that we are in. It seems quite clear that you are clueless on how to finalise transfer deals, and the best you can come up with is that we have newly painted turnstiles, Talk about trying to turn the supporters against the club. Have you had any thoughts about the attendances that are falling by the week and how to attract the true supporters rather than the corporate clients which this club seems to have a fixation about. Now the academy issue, This club has a proud tradition of producing young players and this has been a good financial tool for the club and has produced a lot of revenue for the club, not going down the academy route is once again a scrimping exercise because you do not have the foresight to see that not only can we sell players from it, but it could also save us valuable transfer funds. You are clearly out of touch with the fans views. All in all, i (and the majority of Ipswich fans) can not see anyway forward until the manager and more importantly yourself either step aside or are removed from your positions within the club at the earliest opportunity. Like i have said, I am sure you have tried your best, but for the sake of the club (because this is the most important thing) that is the only way forward.
All we want is OUR Ipswich Town back! This football club doesn't belong to you Mr Clegg nor to Mr Evans. Despite your very best attempts Ipswich Town Football Club will be here long after the Olympics have been and gone. This football club belongs to the people of Suffolk and has until recently been a beacon of success by nurturing and believing in the ability of youth. sound management and above all great judgement. We set the blue print as to how all football clubs of our size should operate in order to compete by adopting financial prudence and the putting in place of sound 5 to 10 year plans measured by continual success on the pitch. This club turned professional in 1936 by the much revered Cobbold family who stood back and allowed real "Football People" the opportunity to build this little club into a much loved and well respected institution that put this corner of East Anglia onto the footballing map. We are now in real danger of throwing the baby out with the bathwater as we seem to have no coherent plans in place for how to develop this wonderful football club. The mad dash for the premiership at all costs is killing our football club. The link between the management and the fans has ruptured under Marcus Evans but it is not yet too late to repair the damage that has been done. Stop all the short termism with the obsession of throwing good money at washed up players on big wages that have no desire left to play football. Listern to the legions of fans who pay to watch this tripe every week who can ill afford to carry on supporting a club that does not listern to our legitimate concerns. I do not doubt that you are an honourable man Mr Clegg and to this end we all demand that you now fall on your sword, do the honourable thing and go quickly before us fans begin a campaign that will force you to leave. Reality is that you have done your best but your lack of judgement in recruiting managers, ticket pricing, players contracts and above all failing to articulate the hopes and dreams of all the fans countrywide means that your job is now untenable.
JWM, Fantastically put. When i clicked the send button, i then realised i forgot about the contract expiring mess up and how if he really wanted the fans view that he should come on to sites like this to really get a grasp of the feelings that now exists between the club and the fans! We need change and we need it now.
That was the censored version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The first mentioned bollocks and sharp instruments!
Guru, decent enough but you are assuming that ALB has lost the shirt therefore until it happens the letter is already flawed and they can dismiss it. In general (not based on your letter) we need a letter comprising of facts and feelings not guesses and false acussations. JWM, Very well written but I would possibly change falling on your sword to something along the lines of 'looking long and hard at your own position and handling of recent events' As some one posted early I think the best way to get a response(if any) is to head away from the obvious 'get out' and head towards gentle encouragement and fan concern
