I see Norwich have released him....worth a punt? Also Lee Camps been released, good competition/possible replacement for kasper?
Yeah i would have him. Would provide decent back up to David Nugent Miguel Vitor is also avalible on a free. Nigel didnt sign him so i doubt we will be interested Would be class signing if we did get him
I'd rather we were getting someone in for whom David Nugent would be decent back-up ... and Lee Camp's off to Brighton ................................................................ just too good an opportunity to resist .
Shame really with Camp, shows what happens when a top championship goalkeeper goes to the prem to sit on the bench ... take note Kasper! Wouldn't mind Jackson, although i havn't seen him play since he was at Diamonds Miguel Vitor won't even be on Pearsons radar.
32 goals in 2 seasons. Cant be that bad I'd admit he isnt a natural goalscorer but thats a decent tally, Chris Wood's tally is similar aswell If we can get a 3rd striker getting 5-10 goals then that could be all the difference.
Yes to Jackson, Yes to Miguel Vitor, a big fat no to Camp though. Surprised Simeon Jackson hasn't had much game time at Norwich, they're hardly awash with striking options (Holt got 8 goals this year I think, about 4 of them were penalties).
nice pace man who could change a game if KS goes then camp would be a top shout but i feel we will keep kasper
Be real - 16 goals in the Championship is hardly prolific - and certainly not very impressive if you are the main striker - the reality is that Nugent is nowhere near clinical enough a finisher to be a Premier League striker - time to wake up and smell the coffee.
Simeon Jackson just s **** League One player at best and Lee Camp passed his best. Not for me thanks, forwards not backwards
Who said he's Premier League class? When we get there, we'll worry about signing Premier League class. He's very decent for this level, 16 a season is a good tally for a centre forward (8th highest in the league this season, outscoring many "strikers") and he scores some excellent goals. And he's not our main striker, Wood is. Still, I wouldn't say no to another striker. The fact that Kane was brought in on loan indicates that this is in Pearson's mind. He'll have to be better than young Harry though! If our main two attacking players can break the 40 goal barrier and, as Proud said, another striker can chip in with about 10, we'll be halfway to promotion. A good, experienced centre back in to replace Keane and I think we're about there, although some depth in squad would be very useful too.
You imply that 16 goals is average for the championship, yet all teams look for that elusive "20 goal" a season striker,,, Nugent was 4 goals off that! 16 goals is not bad at all for the Championship, lets be fair.
My point is that he should have had loads more - he went 17 games without a goal in the Championship - he's never been prolific and his conversion rate to the number of chances he gets is particularly poor - he'll never get a better opportunity to bust 20 and he blew it! I do think he's a good player to have at this level, don't get me wrong - but we need to have someone playing regularly who is far more clinical. Really like Dwight Gale of Posh - a real handful who also knows where the net is - good prospect and also fits Pearson's criteria, young, promising and unlikely to challenge the manager's views!
When we got promoted in 2002/03 Paul Dickov only scored 17 league goals Nugent never has been prolific but he scores enough goals to make him worth his place. 16 goals is a decent return regardless of whether he has a barren spell or not. The great thing about Nugent is his can score any type of goal. And on the last line I highly doubt Nugent has ever challenge Nigel's view.
... I'll bet Dickov's chance conversion rate was miles better - plus those goals were likely scored in where we won because of them... ... he scores enough to make him worth his place ... in the squad - agreed. ... never doubted that Nuge would question Nigel ... having heard him speak a couple of times it's doubtful that he even shares a mind let alone have one of his own ...
