We're (Hull City) linked with a loan move for Simeon Jackson and thoughts on him are divided amongst us fans on our board. What are your thoughts on him? Honest opinions please
A very decent Championship striker who has not realy done it yet in the prem. (to be fair, his chances have been limited). For me though, he is very much a confidence player. Could be a good move for him if he is not seen as needed here. get a goal or two into him early and he could be superb. He joined us and started slowly, again, chances for him were limited but then Paul Lambert made probably the best substitution ever. We were in a decent position in the league (3rd or 4th) and 3-0 up at home to Scunthorpe when Lambert took off Holt and brought on Jackson. Jackson scored 3 more and it really propelled his confidence into orbit. from that moment on we pretty much got promoted on the back of his goals including the goal that grabbed a 1-0 away win at Pompey and put us up. He'll forever be a cult hero here for that alone.
Will do an excellent job at Champ level. Plenty of pace, good movement but you will need someone capable of putting decent balls through to him to allow him to utilise these assets. Sometimes looks to have a poor first touch and lack a bit of composure in front of goal but on his day when his confidence is high (as KennyFoggo says) he can be brilliant - his goal against Psoh in the cup shows what he is all about when he has a good day.
Cheers lads. After DJ Campbell averted talks with us by saying that he and his agent were "going for dinner" and eventually ****ing off to speak to Blackburn, we need a striker who can at least put away the chances we create because the 3 strikers we have at the moment, don't really do that. Jackson is a name who keeps popping up and in all fairness, I rate the lad, but it's always useful to have the fans of the parent Club's opinion because then you know whether it's a mistake or not
Instinctive striker who thrives on a good service. Gets caught offside a lot which is odd for someone with his pace but give him a chance and he'll put it away nine times out of ten. He will always be kindly remembered for his goals in the Championship promo run-in and it's a shame that he hasn't had that many opportunities to shine in the Prem. I'd like to see him stay at Carrow Road as his pace does give us options but with Kemara's arrival now might be the time to let Simeon go out on loan and get some first team action.
I wish we should give hime more of a chance here, problem is though, who do you drop? He is never going to be the kind of player that can do the 1 up top role as I don't see him fighting off a couple of centerbacks to retain posession. Holt is the man for that role and will (and should) continue to lead the line. moving away from 1 up top would be a mistake for us I think as it would mean leaving out Hoolahan. We just cant afford to do that. Maybe a loan move to a decent champ side would be good for him and maybe eventually us. It would need to be a side who play on the deck and present him with chances. Although for a reasonable small guy he does get up well, his pace is best utilised with forward passes down the channels making defenders turn. As I said, once he gets a couple he'll be away.
As eluded to above, he's very much been a victim of our formation this season, giving him limited chances as he's not the type of player to thrive alone up front, especially when we kept playing long balls! He's a pacy customer though, and an instinctive finisher, although perhaps not so good when he's got time to think about it.
As everyone has already said, decent player at Championship level and bags of pace. He does tend to get caught offside a lot and is a confidence player, but also relies on the right service and as DH just said, long balls won't work. If he gets one early and gets his confidence up this is what you could be getting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZaOBE-Gr2Q
i will be gutted if we get rid of him as he gives us a total change which we need against some players. he has never let us down. i thought we should have played him against newcastle when they expected us to lump it into them and used their big defence to deal with it. was hoping we would surprise them and go for pace down the wings and through them. if he is happy only having a bit part then hopefully he will stay
I hate him, he gets the ball and just starts running (extremely quickly) into every brick wall he can find an extremely frustrating player.
We'd not be where we are without him - his end of season form in our promotion season was incredible...big fan - think he needs to move to get a run of games and get amongst the goals - but I'd be very sad to see him go
I'd be sad to see him go, but he deserves to be playing regular football and I'm sure he will be great in the Championship as he was for us.
Couldn't say a bad word about him - clearly a fantastic athlete who on his day knocks them away for fun.
I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said I'm afraid, but he's a great professional, always giving one hundred percent. He's fast and can finish, but his first touch is pretty bad and he's only about 3 feet tall so if you're playing long balls up to him it'll never, ever work. However, I don't think this move will happen this season. Kamara is more of a winger, meaning that if we let Jackson go we'll only have two out and out strikers. I don't see why Hughton would ever let this happen, and if he does I won't be happy.
Awful touch, awful movement, runs in straight line only, cannot run with the ball, quick and a reasonable finisher. He'll only be any good if your playing well. He relies entirely on other players using his speed.
