I wonder if it is about time that we give our mountie a chance ahead of Holt. Every time he has come on in the last few games I thought he has looked sharp, committed and been a real nuiscance to the opposition and has selflessly tracked back to good effect too. Are we lacking some out and out pace up front right now and someone who will always be sniffing around the goal when its crunch time?

    Thoughts guys...

Got to say, I'd like to have seen more of him. I just wonder if Lambert feels that if we went to two up front (ie: no Wes) we'd lack penetration through the middle. If deployed properly, his pace could cause real problems, as well as creating space for Morison.

I think he should defiantly get his go, he is great and I said last season about it and you should let him play and I was correct so I have faith in him again.

I agree Acle. As soon as Morison out gunned Mertesacker it proved what we all knew. He is too slow for the Prem. And I wonder if at that stage instead of Fox labouring away with misplaced passes or Crofts looking lost going forward we might have been better to put on Jackson with the sole intention of upsetting a guy with the turning speed and radius of a Panzer.
He outjumped Morison every time when he was facing the ball but didn't look to healthy out of his comfort zone.
Probably a shame that Vaughan suffered his serious injury but there's nothing we can do about that. Other posters seem to think we should buy a 20 goal striker in January. Yeah its as easy as that!

To be honest, Hoolahan was anonymous vs Arsenal today, but the problem with leaving out Holt is that you're always going to wish you hadn't when nobody is there to put away that cross.

I disagree with your comments about morison, crofts and fox redruth.

But, I think that playing jackson requires a different style of play which we didn't really have time to do yesterday.

It only takes a few seconds to score Wonky and surely we must have a Plan B or C when A is clearly failing? Despite Arsenals overwhelming superiority we were only 1 goal behind but never looked like getting under Plan A.

I didn't see many through balls and lob balls when Jackson came on yesterday, which is what we usually do when he's playing.

I was surprised at his lack of chances especially as he scored 4 for Canada in a match not so long a go

i agree 100%. i think playing jackson off morison will work well. morison is such a tank - he wins so much in the air but also lays the ball off nicely. hoolahan has disappointed me a little so far this season. at home i'd personally play both pilks and bennett on the wings, bring jackson in up front and drop hoolahan and one of crofts/fox/johnson. away from home i think the 4-5-1 works well so stick with that <ok>
