German news source Bild.de are reporting that Hoffenheim have sold Gylfi Sigurdsson to Swansea City for just over £7million. In an article outlining Hoffenheim manager Marcus Babbel's squad plans for next season, it says that he's looking to trim the squad, with up to 16 players possibly leaving. He wants to add quality over quantity as well as selling players that aren't interested in being involved in his side next year. Gylfi Sigurdsson is one of those players, as he hasn't hidden the fact that he wants to leave and join a Premier League club this Summer. After Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins jetted off to Germany in the hope of agreeing a deal for the 22 year-old recently, Bild believe the two clubs have settled on a fee of 9million euros, around £7.2million. Of course, we're not sure how accurate the source is, but we're hoping it's reliable and that it's confirmed locally soon. If it is, it's a promising start to landing the midfield star, then it will be a case of manager Brendan Rodgers trying to persuade him that this is the right club for him, as there's a number of others in the Premier League keeping an eye on him. - Vital
It seems valid to me Ash, as the figures are about right, I mention a while back, that he'd cost between 7 to 8 Million, given that Hoffenheim payed £6.5M for him, so £7.2 is good business if you ask me, and realistic, not the £10M that Babbel, was throwing around some weeks back! Well done Huw.................
God I hope its true ..and if it is then there might be the possibility of picking up another 1or2 from the same source
Yeah i read this to, sounds decent! And to be honest i firmly believe that Sig could well be the guy to keep us up so to speak, we are far more deadly with him in midfield! 40m a season its worth for survival isnt it? 7.2m seems peanuts in the long run.
Very happy if he starts the season as a full fledged Swan .... very nervous , at the same time , that we've crossed that " Big Transfer " bridge of no return !
trying not to get too excitedas I hate rumours...... but finding it hard!! balls to it....... YOU ****ING BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well After having one of the ****iest days for a long time this has put a smile on my face to go to bed with Here's a link to the original article on bild.de http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/hoffenheim/sechzehn-profis-koennen-gehen-24279820.bild.html
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/hoffenheim/sechzehn-profis-koennen-gehen-24279820.bild.html Found this which is the source I think Dragon is referring to. Als Abgänge schon klar: Knowledge Musona wird nach Augsburg ausgeliehen, Gylfi Sigurdsson für etwa 9 Mio. Euro Ablöse an Swansea verkauft. Von der Gehaltsliste sind auch Tom Starke (wechselt zu Bayern) sowie Andreas Ibertsberger, Daniel Haas, Srdjan Lakic und Jens Klingmann (alle Verträge ausgelaufen). I see the words Sigurdsson, 9 million euros and Swansea in the same sentence! etwa = about Ablose = transfer verkauft=sold Als Abgänge schon klar= as disposals already clear
As retirements already clear: Knowledge Musona will be loaned to Augsburg, Gylfi Sigurdsson for about € 9 million transfer to Swansea sold. From the payroll are also Tom Strong (changes to Bavaria), Andreas Ibertsberger, Daniel Haas, Srdjan Lakic and Jens Klingmann (expired all contracts). cheers google !!
Great news if true, but that is just half the story, now he must agree personal terms. This is where a lot of deals fall down.
Gylfi is his own agent. There is no way HJ would have wasted a journey to Germany if they hadn't 'spoke' to Gylfi first. Still, it seems great ..... but as noted, until the club make an annoncement, I am not getting too carried away!
Isn't Sigurdsson on holiday in Iceland? If so, we'll need to wait for him to come back before things are finalised. The sooner the better, as these deals can sometimes come unstuck at the last minute.
I think Sigurddson and Guidetti would really be a signal of intent by Swansea and would be two ambitious and appropriate signings and whilst we are a favourable 'in' club at the minute it would also encourage other key ransfer targets to join us
Huw Jenkins is one smooth operator. If this story is true, then not only has he acquired a fantastic player, he also managed to delay the deal long enough for the Euro to drop 10% in value compared to the £, so 10% saving. One cool cookie!
