Right then Gills fans, who is your signing of the season? It could be anyone we have signed for the 2012/2013 season.

Some standout candidates are: Stuart Nelson who's proved to be a top class keeper between the sticks, Adam Barrett the captain Marvel always willing to put his head on the line, Leon Legge the man mountain at the back, Myles Weston league two's very own Usain Bolt, Deon Burton the veteran striker who has shown his class throughout the season or could it be someone else completely?

Loan signings do count so if you thought that McDonald, Flanagan, Wright etc made the difference, then you can vote for one of them!

    My vote goes to.......

Leon Legge, what a top class defender he has proven to be and thoroughly deserves the L2 player of month award for February.

I'll go Adam Barrett purely on he's been with us from the start and hardly put a foot wrong

Legge has looked good but he has not been here long enough to win any accolades. Barrett has been strong and has comeback well after a dodgy January but he is far too old to have a 3 year contract and may ultimately be a financial liability. Weston has had a series of highs and lows but overall is a good acquisition. Nelson has been thoroughly reliable despite having long periods of spectating. We can see at times why he is not playing at a higher level particularly when kicking but by league 2 standards he has been excellent as well as being virtually an ever present.
The rest have been short term in outlook and some have been unnecessary, others have unsettled superior talent that we had already. So for me the clear winner would be Nelson but Legge could overtake him by the end of the season

Well, I do find it surprising that no one mentioned MA, after all he was a 2012/13 signing. <doh>

I would not count loan signings, so, I start with Myles Weston, I expect a bit too much from this lad and sadly he does not meet my expectations. I did say I expect too much.

We do not make the most of his ability and there are two weaknesses that make me cringe, 1. concentration 2. strength - both of which I have seen improve in Joe Martin. Yes Gemini, I did just say that - lol

Next up for the presentation would be Barratt but he has now been shadowed by Legge. So that leaves one other Nelson, he had a massive task on his hands to appease the Gazza supporter(s)...me

But who do I choose Nelson or Legge?

    Wooooooooooooooa hold the vote!

Look at the OP, quote: 'who is your signing of the season? It could be anyone we have signed for the 2012/2013 season.'

    Easy...

For me it has to be Leon Legge, what a great centre back he is and if he was at the club from the start the season he may have been player because in the short time he has been at the Gills he has been top class.

Nelson, so many times he's pulled of great saves and is always overlooked.

On a slightly different note Legge has been nominated for February player of the month.

Very hard to choose between Nelson, Barrett and Legge for me, and I would give mention to Flanagan and Wright as well who were part of the team that really established us as the league leaders. Weston and Burton have been good in patches, but not as consistent as the defenders, if pushed I would vote for Barrett, but agree he maybe a very short term option whereas Legge and Nelson should be fine if we go up. I would also give praise to the new coaching staff who have also delivered two new full backs because Fish and Martin are unrecognisable from the players we had last season

Legge for me, kept us on track at a bad time. Just ahead of Barratt.
