Try saying that when you've had a few. Finally it's over I bet Brendons not happy , I know the Liverpuddle fans were saying that if they couldn't land Siggy where does that put them in the 'glamour' signing stakes.
Who's the person @ Spurs splashing the payroll cash around? I understand that Sig landed at Spurs because they offered him more per week than Livepool.
Levy appears to have a major say in player transfers , whether that's a good thing is debatable (not imo), how will AVB feel about it I wonder ?
"Who's the person @ Spurs splashing the cash around". It's Rosie's. Levy found another bank book in her name,so he withdrew the cash before Harry found out.
Got to laugh at how this played out.. So strange why he didnt follow buck to Liverpool, seems they tried to undervalue him wages wise, fair enough if he agreed 30k at the swans but when liverpool and spurs come in then to ask for 50-60k a week is understandable i guess, its also a question of how badly your wanted at a club, we were prepared to make him the highest paid player in our history, spurs were prepared to put him in the high earner bracket, liverpool it seems wanted him on the middle wage bracket and probably below such outstanding talent as Henderson! Gylfi probably thought he wasnt being represented properly by buck and maybe felt it was taken as a given that he would sign, the american owners probably thought if he was prepared to sign for the swans for 30k then we dont need to push the boat out on him with wages and offered a 25% hike..wrong choice!! In the crazy world of prem football Siggy is worth 60k a week if he is at a top 4 club, which is what spurs are on and off the field. Liverpool now look like trying to do everything on the cheap while trying to pretend they are a top 4 club!! Looks like king kenny blew the cash at Liverpool and Brenden was a man they hoped would find bargin basement signings to repair the damage, it doesnt say alot about the club (liverpool) when they arnt prepared to help the manager make his first signing, it totally sends out the wrong message to other players and indeed the fans, they have brenden but dont seem able or dont want to give him the players he wants which is going to make that a hard job. Well done to Spurs, i hope gylfi does well there and if he doesnt then im sure we will see him on loan down here, cant help but think there is a growing relationship between levy and jenkins, especially as its been mentioned the swans started looking for a new manager back in march, maybe buck was pencilled in for Spurs with the Swans knowledge and then guzumped them both to go to Liverpool, spurs then decided to show a sign of strength by taking away Brenden s star player from under his nose! this scenario would not suprise me.
Interesting last paragraph scenario there,Norway, which may not be too far away from reality. Ah,if only Rosie could speak, what a tail(?) she would tell.
Rodgers went in for him cheap: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7870725/Reds-look-to-complete-jigsaw
Luck of the Irish running out aye, bet he was furious at Siggy signing for Spurs, made my year!......... please log in to view this image
Don't blame him going for the cheap option, at the end of the day that cheap option is our expensive option, if he is not prepared to play for a team that is offering per week what a lot of people would love to have per year, then it means his motivation is money. Each to their own
With you on yhis one Dragon. I was over the moon when he signed for spurs> Rodgers had spent everyday in the press saying he wasnt going to chase him as he had agreed to go To Swansea, but if it fell through then he would be interested. Like that wasnt going to turn his head. I am sure there is a thing called Karma and maybe all the bad is heading Rodgers way.
Have to say not a very auspicious start is it ? someone's allready said 3 seasons at most. ( Summer, Winter and Spring lol ).
There are rumours sufacing that Brenden rodgers has been made promises that wernt kept, im guessing not finanacing Gylfi's wages being one of them, lets be honest here, if you pay £8m quid for a player you can expect to collect upwards of £30k a week!! players look at what others earn at a club, why should gylfi go to Liverpool and feel like a second class player standing next to the likes of andy carrol and jorden henderson who are on a reported 50k a week ?? I think Gylfi was right to go to the club that valued him the most, that was spurs. I beleive that if rodgers was still manager here he would have signed for us, the fact we were prepared to smash our wage structure for him meant something IMO, of course Liverpool and spurs are much bigger clubs so to only offer him the same wages as little old swansea was to me a bit of penny pinching and showed a lack of respect towards him, maybe rodgers thought he would jumo at the chance, but when you sign for a top club then the wages must also be top. There is alot of stuff going around RE rodgers at liverpool, seems the general word is that he has been sold a few lies by the yanks and his job is going to be buy cheap, spend nothing and finish at least top 6 if not top 4 !! a very tough gig is turning out to be alot tougher, his mates Borini and Gylfi snubbing him have not helped, but of course its now looking obviuos that the money isnt there.
It's the baseball model applied to a football club. In baseball, the team manager is way down the totem pole. BR is going to have an interesting time of it .... he's no ****ing Shankly and he's going to have to produce the goods. Will this be a lot like Bobby at Wigan I wonder, all full of promise, light on delivery. In the Sky posting, BR is quoted as saying abough Sig "He scored seven goals in 19 games and was very, very good." What not fantastic. Seems Sig was only very, very good .... explains the lower wages offered.
Yankee- As was pointed out in another forum which made me chuckle was the that Brenden's job at Liverpool will also be "to inspire the city".. Thats gonna be alot harder considering at least 50% of them are Everton fans!! maybe his new soundbite will be "part of my job here was to inspire just half of the city".. The Baseball thingy you mention is something i have no experience of, all i know is that Bradd pitt did a really good job as a boss of a small baseball team because he had a fat computer geek picking his players with the help of computer data, probably Major league baseball manager 2010 or something similar and JW Henry wanted him to move to Boston to be the boss of his team but brad wanted to stay with the small team because he felt loyal and it rained alot in Boston anyway
I don't think it's a lack of respect mate, he would obviously go to Liverpool as a bench warmer behind Gerrard, they probably feel that such a player is not worth that kind of money. Myself I don't think anyone is worth that kind of money getting more than £3m a year is an obscene amount of money. But there you are I must be a minority
